Calgary road closures and lane restrictions for April 9, 2013

Special events
Mount Royal University Sprint Triathlon – Sunday, April 14
  • The right lane on 33 Avenue S.W. will be closed between Sarcee Road and Crowchild Trail from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 14.
  • The right lane will be closed on Southbound Crowchild Trail, between 33 Avenue S.W. and Mount Royal Gate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 14.
  • Calgary Police will be on-site. Motorists should drive with caution and watch for cyclists.
  • Motorists are advised to watch for cyclists on Sarcee Road between Richardson Way and 33 Avenue S.W.
 
Northeast
36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, for the roadway between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Motorists are advised to use Métis Trail N.E. as an alternative route. For more information, visit 36 Street N.E. road reconstruction and widening.
 
Northbound Barlow Trail N.E. at 100 Avenue N.E., will be reduced to one lane. In addition, eastbound 100 Avenue N.E. at Barlow Trail will be closed. Motorists are advised to use Freeport Boulevard as an alternative route. Starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, for utilities upgrades.
 
Southbound 36 Street N.E. between 25 Avenue N.E. and 24 Avenue N.E., the left lane will be closed, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Monday, April 8 to Wednesday, April 10, for LRT platform construction.
 
Southbound 36 Street N.E. at 8 Avenue N.E., the left lane will be closed, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Monday, April 8 to Friday, April 12, for LRT platform construction.
 
Northwest
Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of Sarcee Trail, one lane will be closed, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Tuesday, April 9 until Friday, April 19, for noise wall replacement.
 
Eastbound Memorial Drive between Crowchild Trail and 19 Street N.W., will be reduced to one lane, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Tuesday, April 9 until Friday, April 19, for water services.

Southeast
Intersection of 5 Avenue S.E. and Centre Street, will have various single lane closures, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Wednesday, April 10 to Friday, April 12, for construction.

Ogden Road south of Bonnybrook Road S.E., will be reduced to one lane in each direction, from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, for emergency water service repairs. All traffic will be directed to the west side of Ogden Road, as crews will be working in the existing northbound lanes.  Alternate routes are recommended as delays are expected.
 
62 Avenue S.E. at 18A Street S.E. will be closed, from 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, for sewer main repairs in the intersection. Local traffic will be directed to 64 Avenue S.E. to bypass the construction. Alternate routes are recommended as delays are expected.
 
68 Street S.E. between 106 Avenue S.E. and 108 Avenue S.E. will have all traffic shifted to an adjacent eastside road, to allow for utility installations and surface upgrades, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. The speed limit of the detour road will be reduced to 30 km/h. This stage of construction is expected to last until mid-May. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
 
100 Street S.E., between Glenmore Trail and Venture Avenue, will be closed for approximately six weeks starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 to allow for water service upgrades and utility connections. Traffic will be directed to 84 Street S.E. to bypass the construction. Local business access will be maintained.
 
Northbound Deerfoot Trail S.E., between highway 22X and Cranston Avenue/Seton Boulevard S.E., will be diverted to the southbound lanes nightly, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting April 1 and lasting to April 13. Traffic speeds will be reduced to 50km/h in the construction zone and motorists may experience intermittent stops for the delivery of bridge girders.  This traffic detour is to facilitate bridge construction on Stoney Trail.
 
Southwest
85 Street S.W. between Lower Springbank Road and Fortress Road, will be closed, from 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, for utility construction.

7 Street S.W. between 6 Avenue S.W. and 7 Avenue S.W., will have the left lane closed, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, for the bike lane project signal installation.

58 Avenue S.W. at 5 Street S.W., will be reduced to one lane in each direction, from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, for emergency water service repairs. All traffic will be directed to the south side of 58 Avenue S.W., as crews will be working in the existing westbound lanes.
