Calgary road closures and lane restrictions for April 24, 2013

Special events
Police Half Marathon and 5K Walk and Run
Sunday, April 28, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • The exit ramp from northbound Crowchild Trail to Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) will be closed.
  • Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Richard Road S.W. and 16 Street S.W.
  • Richard Road S.W. will be closed between Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) and Peace Keeper Way S.W.
  • 66 Avenue S.W. will have runners in the south curb lane between 37 Street S.W. and Crowchild Trail S.W.
Please be aware that there will be a significant police presence in the area during this event. Drivers are advised to use caution when near participants, organizers and volunteers.
 
Southwest
Southbound Crowchild Trail at 33 Avenue S.W., the two left lanes will be closed, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, for paving.
 
The ramp from 17 Avenue S.W. to southbound Sarcee Trail will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26, for construction of the West LRT.
 
The ramp from southbound Crowchild Trail to westbound Bow Trail will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26 for roadwork. Motorists will be detoured via 12 Avenue S.W.
 
7 Street S.W., between 4 Avenue and 3 Avenue S.W., will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Wednesday, April 24 and finishing Thursday, April 25 for the installation of new traffic signals at the intersection.  Only southbound traffic will be affected since northbound traffic has been closed permanently since April 13.  Pedestrian traffic will not be impacted during the work and access to the alley will be maintained from 3 Avenue S.W. Parking will be restricted on the west side of 7 Street S.W. during this time.
 
Southeast
Westbound Memorial Drive west of 28 Street S.E., the left lane will be closed, from 9-3 p.m. daily, between Thursday, April 25 to Friday, April 26, for LRT construction.

Southbound 52 Street S.E., south of 86 Avenue S.E., will have a right lane closure and a speed reduction to 50 km/h from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 for utility work.
 
Motorists heading east on Stoney Trail/Highway 22X will shift to westbound lanes between Cranston Boulevard/McKenzie Lake Boulevard S.E. and Deerfoot Trail from Wednesday, April 24 to Friday, April 26 between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the new Stoney Trail bridge construction.

Southbound Macleod Trail (1 Street S.E.) between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. will have two left lanes closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, between Monday, April 22 to Thursday, April 25, for Enmax utilities.
 
Southbound Deerfoot Trail speed will be reduced to 50 km/h in the construction zone and motorists may experience delays from April 21 until May 10, for trucks moving materials from Deerfoot Trail S.E. between highway 22X and Cranston Avenue/Seton Boulevard S.E.

Northbound 3 Street S.E. at 7 Avenue S.E., the right lane will be closed. In addition, the eastside of sidewalk on 3 Street S.E. north of 7 Avenue S.E. will be closed. This will start at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 15 until 6 p.m. on Friday, May 10, for construction.

68 Street S.E. between 106 Avenue S.E. and 108 Avenue S.E. will have all traffic shifted to an adjacent eastside road, to allow for utility installations and surface upgrades, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. The speed limit of the detour road will be reduced to 30 km/h. This stage of construction is expected to last until mid-May. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
 
100 Street S.E., between Glenmore Trail and Venture Avenue, will be closed for approximately six weeks starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 to allow for water service upgrades and utility connections. Traffic will be directed to 84 Street S.E. to bypass the construction. Local business access will be maintained.
 
Northeast
Southbound 36 Street N.E. at Marlborough CTrain station the left turn lane will be closed, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, between Monday, April 22 until Friday, April 26, for the NE CTrain platform extension project. For more information please visit www.calgary.ca/4carplatforms.

36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard for the roadway to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Motorists are advised to use Métis Trail N.E. as an alternative route. For more information, visit 36 Street N.E. road reconstruction and widening.
 
Northwest
Evanspark Boulevard between Evanston Drive N.W. and Evansview Gate N.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. Monday, April 22 at until 6 p.m. Friday April 26, for utility work.

Lane closures on Centre Street between Laycock Drive and Thorncrest Road will restrict traffic to a single lane in each direction starting at 4 a.m. Monday, April 22, for the Centre Street Reconstruction and Transit Priority project. Construction will last for approximately six to eight weeks, expect delays.  For more information, please visit www.calgary.ca/centrestreet.
 
Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of Sarcee Trail, one lane will be closed, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Tuesday, April 9 until Friday, May 3, for noise wall replacement.
