Calgary road closures and lane restrictions for April 12, 2013

Northeast
36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard for the roadway to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Motorists are advised to use Métis Trail N.E. as an alternative route. For more information, visit 36 Street N.E. road reconstruction and widening.

 

Northbound Barlow Trail N.E. at 100 Avenue N.E., will be reduced to one lane. In addition, eastbound 100 Avenue N.E. at Barlow Trail will be closed. Motorists are advised to use Freeport Boulevard as an alternative route. Starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 15 and lasting until 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, for utilities upgrades.

 

Northwest
4 Avenue N.W., between 9A Street and 8 Street N.W., will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, April 12 until 6 a.m. Monday, April 15 for LRT track maintenance. The pedestrian crosswalks at 4 Avenue and 3 Avenue N.W. will also be closed. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to use 2 Avenue N.W. to cross. 

 

4 Street N.W. between 16 Avenue N.W. and 14 Avenue N.W., will be closed, until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, for water services repairs. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as, 10 Street N.W., as delays are expected in this area.

10 Street N.W. at 19 Avenue N.W., will be reduced to one lane, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, for water services repair.

 

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W., between 14 Street N.W. and Centre Street N, will be reduced to one lane, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, from Saturday, April 13 until Sunday, April 14, for landscaping.

Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of Sarcee Trail, one lane will be closed, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Tuesday, April 9 until Friday, April 19, for noise wall replacement.

 

Eastbound Memorial Drive, between Crowchild Trail and 19 Street N.W., will be reduced to one lane, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Tuesday, April 9 until Friday, April 19, for water services.

Southeast
62 Avenue S.E. at 18A Street S.E. will be closed, from 9 a.m. Thursday, April 11 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, for sewer main repairs in the intersection. Local traffic will be directed to 64 Avenue S.E. to bypass the construction. Alternate routes are recommended as delays are expected.

 

68 Street S.E. between 106 Avenue S.E. and 108 Avenue S.E. will have all traffic shifted to an adjacent eastside road, to allow for utility installations and surface upgrades, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. The speed limit of the detour road will be reduced to 30 km/h. This stage of construction is expected to last until mid-May. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.

 

100 Street S.E., between Glenmore Trail and Venture Avenue, will be closed for approximately six weeks starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 to allow for water service upgrades and utility connections. Traffic will be directed to 84 Street S.E. to bypass the construction. Local business access will be maintained.

 

Northbound Deerfoot Trail S.E., between Highway 22X and Cranston Avenue/Seton Boulevard S.E., will be diverted to the southbound lanes nightly, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting April 1 and lasting to Saturday, April 20. Traffic speeds will be reduced to 50km/h in the construction zone and motorists may experience intermittent stops for the delivery of bridge girders.  This traffic detour is to facilitate bridge construction on Stoney Trail.

 

East and westbound  Highway 22X at 88 Street S.E. will have variable lane closures from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16 to facilitate a concrete pour for the new bridge deck at 88 Street S.E. Traffic will be directed by personnel on site and posted speeds will be reduced to 50km/h in the construction zone.

 

Southwest
7 Street S.W., from 1 Avenue S.W. and 4 Avenue S.W., will be converted to a one-way southbound operation from a two-way traffic operation. This traffic change will start at 7 a.m., on Saturday, April 13. Signs will be posted advising motorists about these new roadway changes. The change to a one-way street is necessary to accommodate the 7 Street SW cycle track and will provide a safer street for all users. It will also be consistent with the current one-way operation on 7 Street S.W., south of 4 Avenue S.W.

 

1 Avenue S.W., from 6 Street S.W. to 7 Street S.W., will be converted from a two-way traffic operation to a one-way westbound operation. This traffic change will start at 7 a.m., on Saturday, April 13. Signs will be posted advising motorists about these new roadway changes. The change to a one-way street is necessary to accommodate the 7 Street SW cycle track and will provide a safer street for all users.

 

7 Street S.W. at 7 Avenue S.W. will have the right lane closed, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, for construction.

Centre Street between 6 Avenue S.W. and 8 Avenue S.W., will be closed, from 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, for utility work.

17 Avenue S.W. at 14A Street S.W., the two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane will be closed, from 7 a.m. Saturday, April 13 until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14, for emergency water main break repairs.

85 Street S.W. between Lower Springbank Road and Fortress Drive will be closed, from 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, for utility construction.
