Calgary road closures and lane restrictions - November 7, 2014

Northeast

Edmonton Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 16 Avenue N.E. and 28 Avenue N.E. Access to 18 Avenue N.E. and 21 Avenue N.E. through 23 Avenue N.E. will be restricted from Edmonton Trail. Construction will continue until late fall on the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

Northwest

Westbound Crowchild Trail N.W. is reduced to one lane between 24 Avenue N.W. and 33 Avenue N.W. Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7, until 5 a.m.  on Monday, November 10 for LRT work.

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for  further information.

Southeast

Extended: There are various lane closures on Spiller Road S.E. south of 25 Avenue S.E. until Tuesday, November 25 for to utility work.

 

The two right lanes will be closed and speed restricted to 50 km/h on southbound Barlow Trail at 106 Avenue S.E from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8 for signal work.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, November 10 to Friday, November 14, there will be various single lanes closures in all directions at the intersection of Peigan Trial and 52 Street S.E. for traffic signal work. The speed limits at intersection will remain at 50 km/h due to continued construction activities adjacent to roadway.

From 7 a.m. Saturday, November 8 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 9, northbound 30 Street S.E. between Glenmore Trail and 80 Avenue S.E. will be closed to allow for utility work.

There will be various lane closures on 4 Street S.E. at 6 Avenue S.E. from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily until November 15 for construction.

The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015. 

3 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction  between 7 Avenue and 8 Avenue S.E. until January 2015. This closure is in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.  daily on weekdays, and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekends.

There will be various lane closures on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River from October 6 until mid-December for water main upgrades under the Graves Bridge. Please note there will also be periodic road closures on the Heritage Drive connection to and from Glenmore Trail.

The sidewalk on the south side of 7 Avenue S.E. is closed between 3 Street S.E. and 4 Street S.E. until Saturday, November 15 due to Central Library construction.

94 Avenue S.E. is closed between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. until Saturday, November 15 due to utility work. At the same time, 60 Street S.E. will be closed between 90 Avenue S.E. and 94 Avenue S.E. Business access will be maintained.

4 Street S.E. is closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

 

SPECIAL EVENTS

Battalion Park Remembrance Day Ceremony

From 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, there will be no access to the parking lot of Battalion Park, and no parking in the cul-de-sac of 100 Sierra Vista Bay S.W.

 

2014 Calgary Highlanders Remembrance Day Parade – Central Memorial Park

On Tuesday, November 11 from 10 a.m. – noon there will be no parking between 2 and 4 Street S.W. along the north side of 13 Avenue and the south side of 12 Avenue S.W.,

4 Street between 12 Avenue S.W.  and 13 Avenue S.W. will be close to traffic, as will 2 right lanes on eastbound 12 Avenue between 2 Street S.W. and 4 Street S.W.,

The sidewalk on the east side of 4 Street S.W. will be closed between 12 Avenue and 13 Avenue S.W.

Calgary Police Service will also be stopping traffic on eastbound 12 Avenue S.W., and 13 Avenue S.W. for one minute at 11 a.m..
