Calgary road closures and lane restrictions - November 14, 2014

Southwest

NEW: Westbound Southland Drive is closed between Macleod Trail and Haddon Road S.W. until further notice for emergency utility repairs.

NEW: Elbow Drive is reduced to one lane in each direction between 58 Avenue S.W. and Bel Aire Drive for emergency utility work.

Motorists travelling to the southwest corners of the city are are encouraged to take alternate routes such as Heritage Drive or Anderson Road via Macleod Trail or Deerfoot Trail.

NEW: Two left lanes are closed on 4 Avenue S.W. between 6 Street S.W.  and 7 Street S.W. for water main repairs. This closure is expected to last through the weekend.

Westbound Richmond Road S.W. is closed at 37 Street S.W. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18 for utility work. During this time, northbound 37 Street S.W. is reduced to one lane, and the adjacent sidewalk is also closed.

11 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. on Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for construction.

Northeast

NEW: Westbound 16 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to one lane west of Deerfoot Trail from 9 p.m. on Monday, November 17 until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18 for construction work.

NEW: Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane at Russet Road N.E. between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, November 18.

NEW: Eastbound McKnight Boulevard will be reduced to one lane east of Edmonton Trail from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, November 17.

NEW: All lanes of traffic have opened on Edmonton Trail between 16 Avenue N.E. and 29 Avenue N.E.  as of 6 a.m. on Friday, November 14.  Thank you for your patience.

Northwest

NEW: Kensington Road N.W. will be closed between 16 Avenue N.W. and 18 Avenue N.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, November 14 until 5 a.m. on Monday, November 17 for utility work.

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for  further information.

Southeast

NEW: There will be various single lane closures in all directions at the intersection of Peigan Trial and 52 Street S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, November 17 to Friday, November 21 for signal work. The speed limits at intersection will remain at 50 km/h due to continued construction activities.

NEW:  Northbound 30 Street S.E. will be closed between Glenmore Trail and 80 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. Saturday, November 8 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 9, to allow for utility work.

Extended: There will be various lane closures on Spiller Road S.E. south of 25 Avenue S.E. starting Tuesday, August 26 until Tuesday, November 25 due to utility work.

62 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 18A Street S.E. and 19 Street S.E. from 7 a.m. Saturday, November 15 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 16 to allow for water services repairs. Local traffic will be detoured to 64 Avenue S.E. Alternate routes such as 66 Avenue S.E. are recommended as delays are expected.

The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015. 

3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the end of January 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

Starting Monday, October 6 for approximately two months, there will be various single lane closures in place 24/7, plus multiple lane closures during evenings and weekends to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Please note there will also be periodic road closures on the Heritage Drive connection to and from Glenmore Trail.

4 Street S.E. is closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.
