Calgary road closures and lane restrictions - July 11, 2014
Northeast
NEW: Westwinds Drive N.E. will be closed at the Westwinds LRT station from 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 13 due to utility work. Access to the Westwinds Station parking lot will be maintained.
NEW: Eastbound McKnight Boulevard will be closed between 36 Street N.E. and 52 Street N.E. from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 due to paving work.
NEW: Westbound McKnight Boulevard will be closed between 52 Street N.E. and 47 Street N.E. from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 13 due to paving work.
There will be various lane closures on 32 Street N.E. between 20 Avenue N.E. to 39 Avenue N.E. until the end of July due to road resurfacing.
17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. are closed at Edmonton Trail until late August due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.
Northwest
NEW: There will be various closures on 4 Street N.W. between McKnight Boulevard and 64 Avenue N.W. on Saturday, July 12 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. due to roadway repairs.
The left lane on southbound Nose Hill Drive N.W. will be closed at Silver Springs Boulevard N.W. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15 due to utility work. At the same time the left lane on westbound Silver Springs Boulevard N.W. will be closed at Nose Hill Drive N.W.
Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly until Sunday, August 31 due to bridge deck repairs.
The right lanes on north and southbound Northland Drive N.W. will be closed throughout the summer due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.
Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for further information.
Southeast
NEW: Westbound 130 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and Copperpond Boulevard S.E. from 7 a.m. on Monday, July 14 to Thursday, August 14 due to major utility work. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 50 km/h. Residents are advised to use McIvor Boulevard S.E. to 52 Street S.E.
NEW: 7 Street S.E. will be closed between 34 Avenue S.E. and 42 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 due to utility work.
NEW: 5 Street S.E. will be closed between 8 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 14 until August 17 for East Village construction.
NEW: Conlfuence Way S.E. will be closed between 6 Avenue and Rioverfront Avenue on Monday, July 14 at 7 a.m. until July 27 at 6 p.m.
NEW: Two lanes will be closed on 6 Avenue S.E. between Macleod Trail and 1 Street S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, July 14 for construction.
NEW: Two lanes will be closed on 5 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street and 2 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, July 14 for construction.
The right lane on northbound Macleod Trail will be closed between 12 Avenue S.E. and 15 Avenue S.E. from 8 p.m. on Friday, July 11 to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 14 to accommodate a Stampede taxi zone.
There are various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. until the end of August. There are also various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction. This work will stop during Stampede (July 4-13).
Southwest
NEW: Bow Trail will be reduced to one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes at 45 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 13 until 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 for roadway construction and paving. In addition, 45 Street S.W. will be closed south of Bow Trail with traffic directed to use 37 Street S.W.
NEW: 27 Street S.W. will be closed between 17 Avenue and 19 Avenue on Monday, July 14 from 8 a.m. until Friday, July 18 at 6 p.m. for watermain replacement.
This work is part of the Bow Trail paving project between 45 Street S.W to Sarcee Trail and will have various stages of construction until mid August. Delays are expected, please use alternate routes.
- Work is expected to start on southbound 14 Street S.W. between 10 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. resulting in lane closures beginning in mid-July.
Westbound Bow Trail will be reduced to one lane east of Crowchild Trail from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday until mid-July for noise barrier construction.
There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
Special Events

- Confluence Way S.E. will be closed between 5 Street S.E. and 6 Avenue S.E.
- 6 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 5 Street S.E. and Confluence Way
- 6 Street S.E. will be closed between 6 Avenue S.E. and 5 Street S.E.
