Calgary road closures and lane restrictions - December 9, 2014

Southwest

3 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 6 Street S.W. and 7 Street S.W. at 7 a.m. on Monday, December 8 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 11 for utility work.

From Monday, December 1 at 9 a.m. until Wednesday, December 10, Richmond Road and 37 Street will have multiple lane closures for utility work.

Southeast

NEW:  On Wednesday December  10 at 8 a.m., 44 Street S.E. from Memorial Drive to 4 Avenue S.E. will be completely closed until Friday December 12 at 6:30 p.m. for utility work.

3 Street S.E. between 53 – 58 Avenue will be closed from Monday, December 8 – 5 p.m., until Wednesday, December 10 for utility repairs.

The traffic circle at the intersection of Legacy Boulevard at Legacy Main Street S.E.(south of 210 Avenue S.E.) will be closed for underground power line installations from 8 a.m. Monday, December 8 to 7 p.m. on Friday December 12. Traffic will be detoured east to Legacy Gate and Legacy Circle to bypass the construction.

From Tuesday, December 2 at 8 a.m. through December 27 at 6 p.m., Olympic Way S.E. between 10 and 11 Avenue will have the right lane closed for utility work.

From 8 a.m. on Friday, November 28 until Friday, December 26, 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 and 4 Street will have the right lane and sidewalk closed for utility work.

The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015. 

3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the end of January 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

UPDATE:  Single lane closures will continue on Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE until mid-January, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.

4 Street S.E. is closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Northwest

NEW:  From 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9 – 5 p.m., Friday December 12, eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. at Sarcee Trail S.W. will have the right-hand lane closed.

 

Special Events

37th Annual Mac’s Midget International Hockey Tournament

The Max Bell Arena entrance and exit will be limited to right-in and right out traffic onto Barlow Trail S.W. from Friday, December 26 to Thursday, January 1. This is to facilitate traffic flow.

28th Annual Lion’s Festival of Lights

14 Street N.W. between 24 Avenue N.W. and Rosehill Drive N.W. will have slow moving traffic nightly until Tuesday, January 6. Motorists should use extra care, be aware of pedestrians and reduce their speed in this area.

Calgary Interfaith Food Bank

Northbound 11 Street S.E. between 46 Avenue S.E. and Highfield Drive S.E. will be reduced by one lane from Friday November 28 until Wednesday, December 24.
