Calgary road closures and lane restrictions - December 5, 2014

Southwest

NEW: 3 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 6 Street S.W. and 7 Street S.W. at 7 a.m. on Monday, December 8 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 11 for  utility work.

10 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 4 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. starting Friday, December 5 at 6 p.m. to Sunday, December 7 at 6 p.m. for tower crane installation to accommodate new development at this location.

From Monday, December 1 at 9 a.m. until Wednesday, December 10, Richmond Road and 37 Street will have multiple lane closures for utility work.

Southeast

NEW: The traffic circle at the intersection of Legacy Boulevard at Legacy Main Street S.E.(south of 210 Avenue S.E.) will be closed for underground power line installations from 8:00 a.m. Monday, December 8 to 7 p.m. Friday December 12. Traffic will be detoured east to Legacy Gate and Legacy Circle to bypass the construction.

The left lane will be closed on eastbound and westbound Glenmore Trail east of Blackfoot Trail from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6 for road construction. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h during this time.

The right lane will be closed on eastbound Glenmore Trail east of Blackfoot Trail from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, December 7 to allow for bridge deck repairs. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h during this time.

From Wednesday December 3 at 8 a.m. through Friday December 5 at 6 p.m. , Southbound 44 Street S.E. from Memorial Drive to Fonda Drive S.E. will be completely closed. The northbound parking lane will remain open.

 

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Tuesday, December 2 to Friday, December 5 there will be various single lane closures in all directions at the intersection of Peigan Trial with 52 Street S.E. for traffic signal work. The speed limits at intersection will remain at 50 km/h due to continued construction activities.

From Tuesday, December 2 at 8 a.m. through December 27 at 6 p.m., Olympic Way S.E. between 10 and 11 Avenue will have the right lane closed for utility work.

From 8 a.m. on Friday, November 28 until Friday, December 26, 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 and 4 Street will have the right lane and sidewalk closed for utility work.

The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015. 

3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the end of January 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

UPDATE:  Single lane closures will continue on Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE until mid-January, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River.

The two left lanes will be closed on westbound Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street S.E. from 8 p.m. Friday, December 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 7 to allow for work related to the watermain upgrade project using the Graves Bridge. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.

4 Street S.E. is closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Northeast

From Saturday December 6 at 6 a.m., through Sunday December 7 at 9 p.m., northbound  52 Street N.E. will be closed from 16 Avenue N.E. through Rundlehorn Drive N.E . for utility work. 

 

Special Events

Auburn Bay Santa Claus Parade

Sunday, December 7,  5 – 6:30 p.m.

Parade route runs from Auburn Bay Community Association, west-bound to Auburn Bay Boulevard, to Auburn Bay Avenue, then to Auburn Spring Boulevard. This will be a rolling closure with CPS presence.

28th Annual Lion’s Festival of Lights

14 Street N.W. between 24 Avenue N.W. and Rosehill Drive N.W. will have slow moving traffic nightly until Tuesday, January 6. Motorists should use extra care, be aware of pedestrians and reduce their speed in this area.

Calgary Interfaith Food Bank

Northbound 11 Street S.E. between 46 Avenue S.E. and Highfield Drive S.E. will be reduced by one lane from Friday November 28 until Wednesday, December 24.
