Calgary road closures and lane restrictions - December 12, 2014
Southwest
NEW: 8 Avenue S.W. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 7 Street S.W. and 8 Street S.W. for emergency utility work. Delays are expected.
NEW: 10 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 7 Street S.W. and 8 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 13 until 5 a.m. on Monday, December 15 for utility work.
NEW: There will be various lane closures on northbound and southbound Crowchild Trail at Flanders Avenue on Sunday, December 14 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for survey work related to the Crowchild Trail/Flanders Avenue interchange project.
NEW: 26 Avenue will be closed between 19 Street and 20 Street S.W. from 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 13 to 5 a.m. on Monday, December 15 for utility work.
NEW: Left turns will not be permitted from Bow Trail on to 26 Street S.W. on Sunday, December 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for signal construction.
NEW: 51 Street S.W. will be closed at 32 Avenue S.W. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 14 for utility work.
NEW: 33 Avenue will be closed between 14 Street S.W. and 15 Street S.W. from 7 p.m. on Friday, December 12 until 5 a.m. on Monday, December 15 for utility work.
Starting at 7 a.m., Saturday December 13 to 5 p.m. on Sunday December 14, 51 Street at 32 Avenue S.W. will be closed for utility repairs.
Southeast
NEW: There will be various single lane closures in all directions at the intersection of Peigan Trial at 52 Street S.E. from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 14 for traffic signal work. The speed limits at intersection will remain at 50 km/h due to continued construction activities.
NEW: From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 13, the left lane will be closed and the speed limit reduced to 60 km/h on eastbound and westbound Glenmore Trail east of Blackfoot Trail for road construction.
NEW: 13 Avenue S.E. will be closed between Macleod Trail and 1 Street S.E. from 8 a.m. on Monday, December 15 until noon on Wednesday, December 17.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, December 12 and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 14, there will be various single lane closures in all directions at the intersection of Peigan Trial with 52 Street S.E. for traffic signal work. The speed limits at intersection will remain at 50 km/h due to continued construction activities.
From Tuesday, December 2 at 8 a.m. through December 27 at 6 p.m., Olympic Way S.E. between 10 and 11 Avenue will have the right lane closed for utility work.
From 8 a.m. on Friday, November 28 until Friday, December 26, 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 and 4 Street will have the right lane and sidewalk closed for utility work.
The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015.
3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the end of January 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.
Single lane closures will continue on Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE until mid-January, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.
4 Street S.E. is closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.
Northeast
At 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, eastbound Airport Trail N.E. east of Deerfoot Trail N.E. will be reduced to one lane for utility work, until Sunday , December 14 at 1 p.m.
On Saturday, December 13, 12 Avenue N.E. will be closed from 1 Street N.E. to 2 Street N.E. for utility work.
Northwest
NEW: Kensington Road will be reduced to one lane at 18 Street N.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 13 for utility work.
The right lane on eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be closed at Sarcee Trail from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. daily from Monday, December 15 until Friday, December 19.
Special Events
37th Annual Mac’s Midget International Hockey Tournament
The Max Bell Arena entrance and exit will be limited to right-in and right out traffic onto Barlow Trail S.W. from Friday, December 26 to Thursday, January 1. This is to facilitate traffic flow.
28th Annual Lion’s Festival of Lights
14 Street N.W. between 24 Avenue N.W. and Rosehill Drive N.W. will have slow moving traffic nightly until Tuesday, January 6. Motorists should use extra care, be aware of pedestrians and reduce their speed in this area.
Calgary Interfaith Food Bank
Northbound 11 Street S.E. between 46 Avenue S.E. and Highfield Drive S.E. will be reduced by one lane from Friday, November 28 until Wednesday, December 24.
