Calgary road closures and lane restrictions - August 22, 2014

 

Northeast

NEW: There will be various lane closures on 32 Avenue N.E. between Deerfoot Trail and 36 Street N.E.  from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly beginning Monday, August 25 to Tuesday, September 2 due to road paving.

 

NEW: 22 Avenue N.E. will be closed between Centre Street and 1 Street N.E. from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 due to concrete work.

 

There will be various lane closures on 36 Street N.E. between 16 Avenue N.E. and 32 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Tuesday, September 5 due to curb rehabilitation and paving.

 

The intersection of Skyview Ranch Road and 128 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction until September 30 for utility work.

 

17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. are closed at Edmonton Trail until late August due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

 

Northwest

 

NEW: 12 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 3 Street N.W. and 4 Street N.W. from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly beginning Friday, August 22 until Monday, August 25 due to utility work.

 

NEW: 14 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction west of 14 Street N.W. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily beginning Friday, August 22 until Sunday, August 24 due to utility work.

 

Northmount Drive N.W. will be closed between 44 Avenue N.W. and Hendon Drive N.W. from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly beginning Friday, August 22 until Monday, August 25 due to utility work.

 

Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly until Sunday, August 31 due to bridge deck repairs.

 

The right lanes on north and southbound Northland Drive N.W. will be closed throughout the summer due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.

 

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for  further information.

Southeast

NEW: 4 Street S.E. will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E., starting Monday, August 25 until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

NEW: Westbound Glenmore Trail between 52 Street S.E. and Stoney Trail will be reduced to one lane with the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly on Sunday, August 24 and Monday, August 25 to allow for paving.

NEW: 6 Avenue S.E. will be closed at noon on Monday, August 25 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26 to accommodate crane removal.  

NEW: 8 Street S.E. will be closed between 34 Avenue S.E. and 42 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. on Friday, August 22 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 due to utility work.

NEW: There will be various lane closures on northbound 24 Street S.E at 114 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, August 24 for road construction. Delays are expected.

NEW: The right lane will be closed on northbound and southbound 52 Street S.E. at Peigan Trail from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 24 for traffic signal relocation in preparation for intersection upgrades. Calgary Police Service will be on site to assist with traffic control. Delays are expected.

Burnsland Road S.E. will be closed between 36 Avenue S.E. and 38 A Avenue S.E. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 due to LRT work.

There will be various lane closures on Cushing Bridge (17 Avenue S.E. between 19 Street S.E. and Deerfoot Trail) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday, August 22 due to bridge rehabilitation work. Speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.

Westbound 130 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and Copperpond Boulevard S.E. until Thursday, September 18 due to major utility work. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 50 km/h. Residents are advised to use McIvor Boulevard S.E. to 52 Street S.E.

There are various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. until the end of August. There are also various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction.

Southwest

NEW: Westbound 22 Avenue S.W. will be closed west of 4 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23 due to construction. At this time parking will be restricted to accommodate two way traffic.

 

NEW: Eastbound 10 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 9 Street S.W. and 10 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 23 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 24 for paving. Parking will be restricted to accommodate two way traffic.

NEW: The right lane on 9 Avenue S.W. will be closed west of 2 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 24 for building construction.

NEW: 1 Street S.W. will be closed between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 22 to 5 a.m. on Monday, August 25 due utility work. At the same time 5 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to one lane at 1 Street S.W.

NEW: The two centre lanes will be closed on 5 Avenue S.W.   between 2  Street S.W. and 1 Street S.W. starting Monday, August 25 at 5 a.m. until September 15 for utility work.

The left lane on 4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 Street S.W. and 1 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 for building construction.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

Special Events

Shaw Charity Classic Golf Tournament

The following roads will be closed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31:

  • 14 Street S.W. from Anderson Road to the intersection of Canyon Meadows Drive and Elbow Drive.
  • Residential access will be maintained.
  • Spectators are advised to take public transit and/or the shuttle service, which will pickup at the Anderson CTrain station and at Mount Royal University.
  • Parking will be restricted in residential areas.
  • There is no public parking on the event site.
  • Visitors are advised to use public transit.
