Province of Alberta

NEW: Starting 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 until 5 p.m. Sunday, September 25 the Province of Alberta will be reducing westbound Hwy 22x from two to one lane between Spruce Meadows Way and Macleod Trail for approximately 100 metres. This work is necessary to accommodate preliminary site work related the SW Calgary Ring Road.

Northeast

NEW: Northbound Centre Street N will be closed and there will be a two-way traffic setup in the southbound lane at various locations from 7 Avenue N.E. to Beddington Boulevard N.E. from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 23. At various times there will be full closures within intersections of this area as milling work takes place, controlled by Calgary Police Service. This closure accommodates milling work related to paving.

NEW: Various single lane closures in both directions of Country Hills Boulevard N.E. east of 36 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Various single lane closures at eastbound McKnight Boulevard N.E. and 12 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Various single lane closures in all directions at 36 Street N.E. and 39 Avenue N.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The left lane of southbound 36 Street N.E. at 32 Avenue N.E. is closed and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. in the area from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure also occurs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates construction.

NEW: 6 Street N.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction south of 41 Avenue N.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. This closure remains in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: The left lane of eastbound Memorial Drive N.E. is closed at Deerfoot Trail N.E. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25. During this closure, the speed limit in the area is reduced to 50 km/hr. This closure accommodates Enmax utility work.

NEW: The right lane of eastbound McKnight Boulevard N.E. is closed west of 19 Street N.E. from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 24. During this closure, the left lane of northbound 19 Street N.E. is also closed at McKnight Boulevard N.E. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of northbound 36 Street N.E. is closed at 25 Avenue N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 25. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 30 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The left lane of southbound 36 Street N.E. at 32 Avenue N.E. is closed and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. in the area daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, September 26. This closure continues to 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 29 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of eastbound 64 Avenue N.E. is closed at 9 Street N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 26. During this closure, there will be no access to the mall at 9 Street via 64 Avenue N.E. due to construction. This closure remains in place until 5 p.m. on Friday, September 30.

NEW: The right lane of westbound McKnight Boulevard is closed at 15 Street N.E. from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 26 for construction.

NEW: Various lane closures in both directions of the Airport Tunnel from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27 for inspection work.

NEW: Various closures on Edmonton Trail N.E. from Memorial Drive N.E. to 16 Avenue N.E. from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27. This closure accommodates landscaping work.

Various lane closures at McKnight Boulevard N.E. and 12 Street N.E. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, and 9 a.m to 3 p.m daily from Monday, September 19 until Friday, September 23. This closure accommodates construction.

Reduced lanes in both directions of Country Hills Boulevard N.E. between Deerfoot Trail and Freeport Drive N.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, September 19. This closure continues daily during these hours on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends through Saturday, October 8. This closure accommodate curb rehabilitation work.

Various lane closures in all directions at Memorial Drive N.E. and Edmonton Trail N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, September 12. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area. This closure accommodates the Memorial Drive at Edmonton Trail improvement project.

Various curb lane closures on McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 12 Street and 19 Street N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 12. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 and accommodates construction.

Two right lanes of northbound Metis Trail N.E. are closed north of McKnight Boulevard N.E. and the speed is reduced to 50 km/hr. beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 1. This closure remains in place until 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 and accommodates bridge work.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 28 there will be new traffic patterns on McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 12 Street N.E. and 19 Street N.E. until October 2016. This work is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project.

Aviation Road N.E. is closed between Aviation Boulevard and 15 Street N.E. until Sunday, September 25. Local business access will be maintained. This closure is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project.

36 Street N.E. will be closed between 64 Avenue N.E. and Airport Trail N.E. until mid-October 2016. During this closure, traffic travelling northbound on 36 Street N.E. will be restricted to local only access at 64 Avenue N.E. Traffic travelling westbound on 80 Avenue N.E. will be diverted to southbound 40 Street N.E. There will be no access to Airport Trail from 80 Avenue N.E. during this closure. Detours using Metis Trail N.E. around construction zone are recommended.

Northwest

NEW: The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of westbound 16 Avenue N.W. is closed west of 14 Street N.W. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of northbound 10 Street N.W. is closed north of 5 Avenue N.W. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of eastbound Beddington Trail N.W. is closed east of Hidden Valley Link N.W. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 24. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Kensington Road N.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 18 Street and 19 Street N.W. from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 26. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of eastbound Memorial Drive N.W. is closed at 9 Street N.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 26. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of westbound 5 Avenue N.W. is closed between 11A Street and 12 Street N.W. from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, September 26. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The left lane of southbound Crowchild Trail N.W. is closed and the speed limit is reduced to 60 km/hr. west of 40 Avenue N.W. from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, September 26. This closure accommodates construction.

34 Avenue N.W. is closed between 69 Street N.W. and Sarcee Trail N.W. daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, September 21. This closure continues daily during these hours on weekdays until 5 p.m. on Monday, September 26 and accommodates utility work.

The right lane of westbound Memorial Drive N.W. is closed at 9 Street S.W. daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, September 20. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates construction.

14 Street N.W. is moving to the final phase of paving. 14 Street N.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction from 2 Avenue to Memorial Drive N.W. During this closure there will be turn restrictions on 14 Street N.W. This closure is the third of four stages of paving work on 14 Street N.W. which is expected to through September 2016

144 Avenue N.W. is closed between Centre Street North and 14 Street N.W. for roadway upgrades through November 2016.

83 Street N.W. is closed between 33 Avenue N.W. and Bowfort Road N.W. until further notice. There will be no access to Bowness Road N.W. from 16 Avenue N.W.; use an alternate route.

Southeast

NEW: The right lane of eastbound 114 Avenue S.E. is closed at Barlow Trail S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: 8 Street S.E. is closed north of MacDonald Avenue S.E. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 23. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Monday, September 23 and accommodates utility work.

NEW: Shawville Boulevard S.E. is closed between Shawnessy Boulevard S.E. and 162 Avenue S.E. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30. Access to Shawnessy LRT station, local shopping and restaurants will be maintained. The road closure accommodates new underground service install and remains in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, October 3. Motorists are advised to use Macleod Trail S.E. as an alternate route.

NEW: The two right lanes of 11 Avenue S.E. are closed at Macleod Trail S.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. This closure remains in place until 12 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 and accommodates utility work.

NEW: The left lane of eastbound Glenmore Trail S.E. (Graves Bridge) east of Deerfoot Trail S.E. is closed and the speed limit is reduced to 60 km/hr. in the area from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: 19 Avenue S.E. is closed between 8 Street and 9 Street S.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 26. This closure remains in place until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28 and accommodates construction.

38 Avenue S.E. will be closed in single block sections between 16A Street S.E. and Ogden Road S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure will continue in this area until 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 and accommodates construction.

Macleod Trail S.E. will have various single curb lane closures daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, September 13. These closures accommodate paving.

15 Street S.E. is closed between 42 Street and 46 Street S.E. During this closure, business access will be maintained. This closure continues through 2016 and accommodates major water services work.

Zoo Road will be closed until December 2017 to accommodate the construction of the Zoo Flood mitigation project. The 12 Street S.E. bridge will remain open to local only traffic.

Blackfoot Trail / Southland Drive S.E. Intersection Improvements Project

  • The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h at the intersection of Blackfoot Trail and Southland Drive during periods of construction activity. This work is related to the Southland Dr and Blackfoot Trail intersection improvements for 2016.

Blackfoot Trail / 58 Avenue S.E. Intersection Improvements Project

  • NEW: Southland Drive S.E. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction at Blackfoot Trail S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27.
  • NEW: Eastbound Southland Drive S.E. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction at Blackfoot Trail S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.
  • The left turns from east and west 58 Avenue S.E. onto Blackfoot Trail, will be revised starting on Wednesday, August 3. The optional dual left turn will be removed and traffic will only be able to make single left turns. This is required as an interim measure to accommodate the next phase of construction and is anticipated to be in place for several weeks.

Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue Interchange project

  • NEW: Sun Valley Boulevard S.E. is closed east of Macleod Trail S.E. nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25. Motorists are advised to use Midlake Boulevard S.E. or Highway 22X as alternate routes.
  • Access to southbound Macleod Trail from the shopping Centre located north of 162 Avenue S.E. will close to accommodate the next phase of construction. Traffic will be required to exit the shopping Centre at the west entrance on Shawville Boulevard and connect to either 162 Avenue S.E. or Shawnessy Boulevard to access Macleod Trail.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • Various single lane closures in all directions at Glenmore Trail and 52 Street S.E. from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, September 19.
  • The Shepard Road access south of Glenmore is closed. There will be a new access created at 24 Street S.E. south of Glenmore Trail, west of the existing Shepard Road alignment. Traffic requiring to access Shepard Road south of Glenmore Trial will be detoured via the new 24 Street S.E. exit and then along 86 Avenue S.E. to reconnect with Shepard Road. There will be limited business access north of 86 Avenue S.E. on Shepard Road after detour in place. In addition, the eastbound lanes on Glenmore Trail will be re-aligned into the next stage of construction. The eastbound and westbound lanes will be separated with two new intersections created. Ogden Road will have some alignment shifts north of Glenmore Trail to accommodate these traffic changes.

Southwest

NEW: 12 Avenue S.W. is closed between 4 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 23. During this closure, there will be a left lane closure of 11 Avenue S.W. from 2 Street to 4 Street S.W. for detoured cycle track traffic. Cyclists and motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays in the area. This closure remains in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, September 26 and accommodates utility work.

NEW: 8 Avenue S.W. is closed between 5 Street and 6 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 24. This closure accommodates crane work.

37 Street S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Bow Trail S.W. and 4 Avenue S.W. beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, September 22. During this closure 4 Avenue S.W. will also be closed between 37 Street and 38 Street S.W. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30 and accommodates construction.

NEW: 1A Street S.W. is closed at 61 Avenue S.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes in the area and expect delays. This closure continues until 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 2 and accommodates construction.

NEW: 13 Avenue S.W. is closed between 4 Street and 5 Street S.W. beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, September 26. This closure remains in place until 4 p.m. on Friday, October 7 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of northbound 4 Street S.W. is closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 26. This closure continues until September 2017 and accommodates the 4 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project.

Sifton Boulevard S.W. will be closed between 38 Avenue and 39 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6. This closure will remain in place until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30 and accommodates water utility replacement. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and use alternate routes where possible.

Northbound 8 Street S.W. is closed between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning on Monday, September 19. This closure continues nightly during these hours until 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates work on a pedestrian underpass.

There will be a traffic pattern change at 61 Avenue S.W. between Macleod Trail and Centre Street S. This closure accommodates work on the 61 Avenue S.W. Greenway Corridor project.

The left lane of 9 Avenue S.W. is closed at 8 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, August 29. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Friday, September 30 and accommodates maintenance work.

The right lane of northbound 8 Street S.W. is closed between 8 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 25. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30 and accommodates work on the pedestrian underpass.

10 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction west of 8 Street S.W. until 5 p.m. on Friday, September 23 due to Transportation Infrastructure work.

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

  • NEW: 1 Street S.W. is closed between 15 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday September 21. This closure remains in place until 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates construction.
  • 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Centre Street S and 1 Street S.W. beginning at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 16. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Friday, October 21 and accommodates construction.
  • 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 2 Street and 4 Street S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 22. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 23.

The right lane of southbound 8 Street S.W. between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. is closed until October 2016. The west sidewalk on 8 Street S.W. in this stretch will be closed. This closure accommodates work on the 8 Street S.W. underpass project.

Crowchild/Flanders Ave Interchange

  • The northbound exit ramps from Crowchild Trail S.W. to Flanders Avenue S.W. are currently closed until late 2016. Motorists will be unable to access Flanders Avenue S.W. via northbound Crowchild Trail S.W. Motorists are advised to use 33 Avenue S.W. or 50 Avenue S.W. via Crowchild Trail as alternate routes.
  • Caen Avenue (from the Currie Business Park entrance to Quesnay Wood Drive) is closed to allow for the utility work necessary for the Interchange construction. This stretch of Caen Avenue will be closed until late 2016. A temporary off-ramp provides access into the Currie Business Park, from Crowchild Trail South to Battleford Avenue.
  • Construction work has begun on Richard Road and eastbound Flanders Avenue. Traffic on Richard Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction (north and sound bound).

Bridges

MacDonald Bridge

​Traffic on 7 Street S.E. may be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m from Monday, August 22 until Sunday, October 30, 2016. Pedestrian traffic on 7 Street S.E. will be detoured to the east side of Elbow River for the duration of the project.

Prince’s Island Park Bridge

The Prince’s Island Park pedestrian bridge to Memorial Drive will be partially closed until the end of September 2016 and accommodates replacement of a non-slip coating.

Peace Bridge

The Peace Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, July 18 through September 2016 for bridge repair. This closure will not occur every night as it is weather dependant. This closure is related to work on Peace Bridge panel replacement.
