Northeast

Update: Various lane closures at McKnight Boulevard N.E. and 12 Street N.E. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, and 9 a.m to 3 p.m daily from Monday, September 19 until Friday, September 23. This closure accommodates construction.

21 Street N.E. is closed between 18 Avenue N.E. and 20 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure accommodates construction.

The left lane of eastbound Memorial Drive N.E. is closed at 9 Street N.E. (near Zoo LRT Station) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 for utility work. During this closure, speed will be reduced to 50 km/hr.

Westbound Country Hills Boulevard N.E. is reduced to a single lane between Deerfoot Trail and Freeport Drive N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure continues until 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 and accommodates catch basin installation.

Various lane closures on southbound Edmonton Trail N.E. between 5 Avenue N.E. and Memorial Drive N.E. from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure accommodates paving.

Various closures on 11 Street N.E. at 19 Street N.E. from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 for utility work.

Metis Trail N.E. will be controlled by flagmen and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr. between 80 Avenue and 104 Avenue N.E. from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure accommodates storm sewer work.

The left lane of eastbound Memorial Drive N.E. is closed at 12 Street N.E. (near Zoo LRT Station) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 for utility work. During this closure, speed will be reduced to 50 km/hr.

Eastbound and westbound McKnight Boulevard N.E. is reduced to a single lane between 12 Street and 19 Street N.E. from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 18. This closure accommodates paving. Alternate routes are recommended as delays in the area are expected.

Reduced lanes in both directions of Country Hills Boulevard N.E. between Deerfoot Trail and Freeport Drive N.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, September 19. This closure continues daily during these hours on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends through Saturday, October 8. This closure accommodate curb rehabilitation work.

Various single lane closures at 36 Street N.E. and 4 Avenue N.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, September 14. This closure continues daily during these hours, and also from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure accommodates construction.

Westbound Cityscape Boulevard / 104 Avenue N.E. is reduced to a single lane at Metis Trail N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 and accommodates utility work.

Various lane closures in all directions at Memorial Drive N.E. and Edmonton Trail N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, September 12. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area. This closure accommodates utility work.

Various lane closures in all directions at 19 Street N.E. and McKnight Boulevard N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, September 12. This closure continues until 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 and accommodates curb work.

Various curb lane closures on McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 12 Street and 19 Street N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 12. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 and accommodates construction.

Two right lanes of northbound Metis Trail N.E. are closed north of McKnight Boulevard N.E. and the speed is reduced to 50 km/hr. beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 1. This closure remains in place until 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 and accommodates bridge work.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 28 there will be new traffic patterns on McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 12 Street N.E. and 19 Street N.E. until October 2016. This work is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project.

Aviation Road N.E. is closed between Aviation Boulevard and 15 Street N.E. until Sunday, September 25. Local business access will be maintained. This closure is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project.

36 Street N.E. will be closed between 64 Avenue N.E. and Airport Trail N.E. until mid-October 2016. During this closure, traffic travelling northbound on 36 Street N.E. will be restricted to local only access at 64 Avenue N.E. Traffic travelling westbound on 80 Avenue N.E. will be diverted to southbound 40 Street N.E. There will be no access to Airport Trail from 80 Avenue N.E. during this closure. Detours using Metis Trail N.E. around construction zone are recommended.

Northwest

NEW: The right lane of westbound Brentwood Road N.W. is closed from 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 19 until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20 due to construction.

Bowness Road N.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction at various points between 60 Street and 65 Street N.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 and accommodates construction.

The left lane of northbound Crowchild Trail is closed at 40 Avenue N.W. and the speed limit is reduced to 60 km/hr. daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, September 19. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 22 and accommodates construction.

The left lane of southbound Crowchild Trail is closed at 40 Avenue N.W. and the speed limit is reduced to 60 km/hr. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, September 19. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 22 and accommodates construction.

14 Street N.W. is moving to the third phase of paving. 14 Street N.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction from 2 Avenue to Memorial Drive N.W. During this closure there will be turn restrictions on 14 Street N.W. This closure is the third of four stages of paving work on 14 Street N.W. which is expected to through September 2016

144 Avenue N.W. is closed between Centre Street North and 14 Street N.W. for roadway upgrades through November 2016.

83 Street N.W. is closed between 33 Avenue N.W. and Bowfort Road N.W. until further notice. There will be no access to Bowness Road N.W. from 16 Avenue N.W.; use an alternate route.

Southeast

NEW: Memorial Drive S.E. is reduced to two lanes eastbound at 28 Street S.E., and 28 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane northbound at Memorial Drive S.E. from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17.

38 Avenue S.E. will be closed in single block sections between 16A Street S.E. and Ogden Road S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure will continue in this area until 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 and accommodates construction.

1 Street S.E. is reduced to two left lanes between 6 Avenue and 7 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 for crane activity.

Macleod Trail S.E. will have various single curb lane closures daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, September 13. These closures accommodate paving.

15 Street S.E. is closed between 42 Street and 46 Street S.E. During this closure, business access will be maintained. This closure continues through 2016 and accommodates major water services work.

Zoo Road will be closed until December 2017 to accommodate the construction of the Zoo Flood mitigation project. The 12 Street S.E. bridge will remain open to local only traffic.

Blackfoot Trail / Southland Drive S.E. Intersection Improvements Project

  • The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h at the intersection of Blackfoot Trail and Southland Drive during periods of construction activity. This work is related to the Southland Dr and Blackfoot Trail intersection improvements for 2016.

Blackfoot Trail / 58 Avenue S.E. Intersection Improvements Project

  • The left turns from east and west 58 Avenue S.E. onto Blackfoot Trail, will be revised starting on Wednesday, August 3. The optional dual left turn will be removed and traffic will only be able to make single left turns. This is required as an interim measure to accommodate the next phase of construction and is anticipated to be in place for several weeks.

Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue Interchange project

  • The two right lanes will be closed on southbound Macleod Trail south of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 9 p.m. Saturday, September 17 until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 18.
  • Access to southbound Macleod Trail from the shopping Centre located north of 162 Avenue S.E. will close to accommodate the next phase of construction. Traffic will be required to exit the shopping Centre at the west entrance on Shawville Boulevard and connect to either 162 Avenue S.E. or Shawnessy Boulevard to access Macleod Trail.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • Various single lane closures in all directions at Glenmore Trail and 52 Street S.E. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18.
  • Various single lane closures in all directions at Glenmore Trail and 52 Street S.E. from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, September 19.
  • The Shepard Road access south of Glenmore is closed. There will be a new access created at 24 Street S.E. south of Glenmore Trail, west of the existing Shepard Road alignment. Traffic requiring to access Shepard Road south of Glenmore Trial will be detoured via the new 24 Street S.E. exit and then along 86 Avenue S.E. to reconnect with Shepard Road. There will be limited business access north of 86 Avenue S.E. on Shepard Road after detour in place. In addition, the eastbound lanes on Glenmore Trail will be re-aligned into the next stage of construction. The eastbound and westbound lanes will be separated with two new intersections created. Ogden Road will have some alignment shifts north of Glenmore Trail to accommodate these traffic changes.

Southwest

17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Centre Street S and 1 Street S.W. beginning at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 16. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Friday, October 21 and accommodates construction.

33 Avenue S.W. is closed between 17 Street and 18 Street S.W. beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 16. Traffic will be detoured via 34 Avenue during the closure. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Monday, September 19 and accommodates underground utility work.

5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 9 Street S.W. and 10 Street S.W. beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 16. This closure remains in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, September 19 and accommodates utility work. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and use alternate routes when possible.

17 Avenue S.W. is closed between 1 Street and 4 Street S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure remains in place until 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 and accommodates construction.

8 Street S.W. is closed between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 and accommodates work on a pedestrian underpass.

1 Street S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 5 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure remains in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 and accommodates water services utility work.

9 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single left lane west of 14 Street S.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 17. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 and accommodates water services utility work.

The left lane and adjacent cycle track of 12 Avenue S.W. is closed at 8 Street S.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, September 19 and Tuesday, September 20. During this closure, cycle track traffic will be diverted into the closed traffic lane. This closure accommodates utility work.

Northbound 8 Street S.W. is closed between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning on Monday, September 19. This closure continues nightly during these hours until 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 and accommodates work on a pedestrian underpass.

3 Street S.W. is closed between 60 Avenue S.W. and 61 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14. This closure remains in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 and accommodates construction.

37 Street S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 4 Avenue S.W. and Spruce Drive S.W. beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, September 12. During this closure, there will be turn restrictions along the closure. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 23 and accommodates construction.

Sifton Boulevard S.W. will be closed between 38 Avenue and 39 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6. This closure will remain in place until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20 and accommodates water utility replacement. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and use alternate routes where possible.

There will be a traffic pattern change at 61 Avenue S.W. between Macleod Trail and Centre Street S. This closure accommodates work on the 61 Avenue S.W. Greenway Corridor project.

The left lane of 9 Avenue S.W. is closed at 8 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, August 29. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Friday, September 30 and accommodates maintenance work.

The right lane of northbound 8 Street S.W. is closed between 8 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 25. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30 and accommodates work on the pedestrian underpass.

10 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction west of 8 Street S.W. until 5 p.m. on Friday, September 23 due to Transportation Infrastructure work.

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

  • 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 2 Street and 4 Street S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 22. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 23.

The right lane of southbound 8 Street S.W. between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. is closed until October 2016. The west sidewalk on 8 Street S.W. in this stretch will be closed. This closure accommodates work on the 8 Street S.W. underpass project.

Crowchild/Flanders Ave Interchange

  • The northbound exit ramps from Crowchild Trail S.W. to Flanders Avenue S.W. are currently closed until late 2016. Motorists will be unable to access Flanders Avenue S.W. via northbound Crowchild Trail S.W. Motorists are advised to use 33 Avenue S.W. or 50 Avenue S.W. via Crowchild Trail as alternate routes.
  • Caen Avenue (from the Currie Business Park entrance to Quesnay Wood Drive) is closed to allow for the utility work necessary for the Interchange construction. This stretch of Caen Avenue will be closed until late 2016. A temporary off-ramp provides access into the Currie Business Park, from Crowchild Trail South to Battleford Avenue.
  • Construction work has begun on Richard Road and eastbound Flanders Avenue. Traffic on Richard Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction (north and sound bound).

Beakerhead

  • McDougall Road N.E. from 8 Street N.E. and 9 Street N.E. closed from 6 a.m. Saturday, September 17 to 4 p.m. on Sunday September 18
  • Saturday Sept 17 6 p.m. to Sun Sept 18 4 a.m. the following roads will be closed:
    • 9 Street N.E. between MacPherson Road N.E. to Centre Ave N.E.

  • Willow Crescent S.W. will be closed at Poplar Road S.W.

Mount Royal University Colour Run for the United Way – Saturday, September 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • The right lane on westbound Richard Road will be closed between Richardson Road and Mount Royal Gate S.W.
  • The right lane on westbound Mount Royal Gate will be closed between Richard Road and Mount Royal Circle S.W.
  • The right lane on eastbound Richardson Way will be closed between Richardson Road S.W. and Richard Road S.W.
  • Motorists are advised to watch for Calgary Police Services along the event route.

Ronald McDonald Rock the House Run – Sunday, September 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • 40 Avenue NW will be closed between Shaganappi Trail NW and Varsity Road NW
  • The right lane will be closed on northbound 53 Street NW from North Varsity Drive NW to Varsity Estates Drive NW
  • The right lane will be closed on southbound 53 Street NW from 40 Ave NW to the north entrance of Market Mall
  • Varsity Drive will be closed west of Shaganappi Trail. Motorists are advised to use 32 Avenue N.W. for access.
  • 40 Avenue N.W. will be closed west of Shaganappi Trail. Motorists are advised to use 32 Avenue N.W. for access.
  • Watch for police and runners in the Varsity area and obey all traffic control measures.

Bridges

MacDonald Bridge

​Traffic on 7 Street S.E. may be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m from Monday, August 22 until Sunday, October 30, 2016. Pedestrian traffic on 7 Street S.E. will be detoured to the east side of Elbow River for the duration of the project.

Prince’s Island Park Bridge

The Prince’s Island Park pedestrian bridge to Memorial Drive will be partially closed until the end of September 2016 and accommodates replacement of a non-slip coating.

Peace Bridge

The Peace Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, July 18 until mid-September for bridge repair. This closure will not occur every night as it is weather dependant. This closure is related to work on Peace Bridge panel replacement.
