Calgary Road Closures - October 28, 2014

Northeast

From Monday, October 27 through Friday, October 31 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., 36 Street N.E. will be down to one lane between Rundlehorn Drive and 24 Avenue N.E.

Edmonton Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 16 Avenue N.E. and 28 Avenue N.E. Access to 18 Avenue N.E. and 21 Avenue N.E. through 23 Avenue N.E. will be restricted from Edmonton Trail. Construction will continue until late fall on the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

Northwest

From Monday, October 27 through Friday, October 31 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Westbound John Laurie Boulevard N.W. will have one right lane closed, west of Shaganappi Trail N.W., due to construction.

Dalhart Road N.W. will be closed between 53 Street N.W. and 54 Street N.W. from 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 23 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29 due to utility work.

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for  further information.

Southeast

NEW: 6 Avenue S.E. between 4 and 5 Street, is scheduled to be open by Thursday, October 30 at 6 a.m..

Starting Tuesday October 28 at 9 a.m., the west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 and 8 Avenue S.E. will be closed for construction.

Starting Tuesday October 28, 3 Street S.E. between 7 and 8 Avenue S.E. will be down to 2 lanes (from 3) in the northbound direction. One lane in the southbound direction will be maintained. This lane closure will be between the hours of 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. on weekdays, on weekends between the hours of 6 p.m. – 6 a.m..

Extended: There will be various lane closures on Spiller Road S.E. south of 25 Avenue S.E. starting Tuesday, August 26 until Tuesday, November 25 due to utility work.

Starting Monday, October 6 for approximately two months, there will be various single lane closures in place 24/7, plus multiple lane closures during evenings and weekends to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Please note there will also be periodic road closures on the Heritage Drive connection to and from Glenmore Trail.

The sidewalk on the south side of 7 Avenue S.E. is closed between 3 Street S.E. and 4 Street S.E. until Saturday, November 15 due to Central Library construction.

Southbound Highfield Road will is closed between 26 Avenue S.E. and Blackfoot Trail until 6 p.m. on Monday, November 17 due to flood related slope reconstruction. Motorists are advised to access Blackfoot Trail from 26 Avenue S.E.

94 Avenue S.E. is closed between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. until Saturday, November 15 due to utility work. At the same time, 60 Street S.E. will be closed between 90 Avenue S.E. and 94 Avenue S.E. Business access will be maintained.

4 Street S.E. is closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: From 7 a.m. Wednesday, October 29 through 7 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 50 Avenue S.W. between 4 and 4A Street S.W. will be closed for construction.

NEW: From 7 a.m. on Saturday, November 1 until 9 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, Northbound 8 Street S.W. will be closed between 8 and 10 Avenue S.W., for construction. Southbound traffic on 8 Street S.W. will not be affected. 

NEW: 2 Street S.W. between 5 and 6 Avenue is scheduled to be open by Thursday, October 30 at 6 a.m..

69 Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Springbank Boulevard and Springbank Road S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, October 24 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily on Monday, October 27 until Wednesday, October 29.
