Calgary Road Closures - October 22, 2014

Northeast

Edmonton Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 16 Avenue N.E. and 28 Avenue N.E. Access to 18 Avenue N.E. and 21 Avenue N.E. through 23 Avenue N.E. will be restricted from Edmonton Trail. Construction will continue until late fall on the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

Northwest

NEW: There will be various lane closures at Shaganappi Trail and Bowness Road from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly beginning Thursday, October 23 until Saturday, October 25 to accommodate borehole drilling.

NEW: On October 23 from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m., there will be a right lane closure southbound heading west around the corner in the parking lane at 4 Street N.W. and 64 Avenue.

NEW: 12 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 1 Street N.W. and 2 Street N.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, October 24 to 5 a.m. to Monday, October 27 due to utility work.

 

NEW: Eastbound 14 Avenue N.W. will be closed east of 14 Street N.W. from 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 23 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 26 due to utility work. At the same time westbound 14 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane. Flaggers will be on site directing traffic.

NEW: Dalhart Road N.W. will be closed between 53 Street N.W. and 54 Street N.W. from 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 23 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 25 due to utility work.

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for  further information.

Southeast

Extended: There will be various lane closures on Spiller Road S.E. south of 25 Avenue S.E. starting Tuesday, August 26 until Tuesday, November 25 due to utility work.

There will be various lane closures on 114 Avenue S.E. at Barlow Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Friday, October 10  until Sunday, October 26 to allow for intersection upgrades. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.

Starting Monday, October 6 for a duration of approximately two months, there will be various single lane closures in place 24/7, plus multiple lane closures during evenings and weekends to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Please note there will also be periodic road closures on the Heritage Drive connection to and from Glenmore Trail.

The sidewalk on the south side of 7 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 3 Street S.E. and 4 Street S.E. from Saturday, September 29 to Saturday, November 15 due to Central Library construction.

Southbound Highfield Road will be closed between 26 Avenue S.E. and Blackfoot Trail from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 17 due to flood related slope reconstruction. Motorists are advised to access Blackfoot Trail from 26 Avenue S.E.

94 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. until Saturday, November 15 due to utility work. At the same time, 60 Street S.E. will be closed between 90 Avenue S.E. and 94 Avenue S.E. Business access will be maintained.

4 Street S.E. will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: The right lane will be closed on westbound Anderson Road at 14 Street S.W. and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, October 23 to allow for traffic signal work in preparation for intersection upgrades.

Eastbound 8 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 4 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 18 to 3 p.m. on Friday, October 24 to accommodate bike lane installation.

13 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and Centre Street from Monday, October 20 to Friday, October 24 due to utility work.
