Calgary road closures - October 17, 2014

Northeast

There will be various lane closures on Country Hills Boulevard between Metis Trail and 26 Street N.E. from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily beginning Thursday, October 16 until Sunday, October 19 due to road work.

Edmonton Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 16 Avenue N.E. and 28 Avenue N.E. Access to 18 Avenue N.E. and 21 Avenue N.E. through 23 Avenue N.E. will be restricted from Edmonton Trail. Construction will continue until late fall on the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

Northwest

NEW: Southbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19 due to bridge work.

NEW: 10 Street N.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 3 Avenue N.W. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 due to traffic signal installation.

Kensington Road will be closed between 16 Street N.W. and 17 Street N.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, October 17 to 5 a.m. on Monday, October 20 due to utility work.

19 Street N.W. will be closed between 3 Avenue N.W. and 4 Avenue N.W. from 9 a.m. on Friday, October 17 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 due to utility work.

Crowchild Trail will be reduced to two lanes in each direction at Stoney Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays only from Tuesday, October 14 to Tuesday, October 21 due to Tuscany LRT station work.

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for  further information.

Southeast

NEW: Macleod Trail will be reduced to two lanes north of 10 Avenue S.E. from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 19 due to utility work. At the same time westbound 10 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane west of 3 Street S.E.

NEW: There will be various lane closures on Glenmore Trail between Blackfoot Trail and Deerfoot Trail S.E. from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, to accommodate bridge inspections. Speed will be reduced to 50 km/h at this time. Motorists are advised to alternate routes as delays are expected.

NEW: Westbound Glenmore Trail will be closed between 30 Street S.E. and 31 Street S.E. from 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 18 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 to allow for utility work related to the Glenmore Trail / Ogden Road interchange project. Local traffic will be detoured to 80 Avenue S.E. via 31 Street S.E. to bypass the construction. Alternate routes such as Deerfoot Trail are recommended as delays are expected.

1 Street S.E. will be closed between 5 Avenue S.E. and 6 Avenue S.E. from 7 p.m. on Friday, October 17 to 5 a.m. on Monday, October 20 due to utility work. At the same time 5 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane at 1 Street S.E.

There will be various lane closures on 114 Avenue S.E. at Barlow Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Friday, October 10  until Sunday, October 26 to allow for intersection upgrades. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.

Until Wednesday October 22 at 3 p.m., there will be various lane closures, speed restriction to 50km/h, and flagman to stop traffic periodically for 5 minutes at a time at 50 Avenue S.E. and Barlow Trail. This will happen on weekdays daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekends daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Tuesday, October 14 work occurs from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. This work is to install new power lines.

Starting Monday, October 6 for a duration of approximately two months, there will be various single lane closures in place 24/7, plus multiple lane closures during evenings and weekends to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Please note there will also be periodic road closures on the Heritage Drive connection to and from Glenmore Trail.

There will be various lane closures on 17 Avenue S.E. and Hubalta Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends until Saturday, October 18 due to road work.

The sidewalk on the south side of 7 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 3 Street S.E. and 4 Street S.E. from Saturday, September 29 to Saturday, November 15 due to Central Library construction.

Southbound Highfield Road will be closed between 26 Avenue S.E. and Blackfoot Trail from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 17 due to flood related slope reconstruction. Motorists are advised to access Blackfoot Trail from 26 Avenue S.E.

94 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. until Saturday, November 15 due to utility work. At the same time, 60 Street S.E. will be closed between 90 Avenue S.E. and 94 Avenue S.E. Business access will be maintained.

There will be various lane closures on Spiller Road S.E. south of 25 Avenue S.E. starting Tuesday, August 26 until Tuesday, November 4 due to utility work.

4 Street S.E. will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: 2 Avenue will be closed between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. from Monday, October 20 to Thursday, October 23 due to building construction.

NEW: Eastbound 8 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 4 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 18 to 3 p.m. on Friday, October 24 to accommodate bike lane installation.

NEW: 13 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and Centre Street from Monday, October 20 to Friday, October 24 due to utility work.

NEW: 15 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 4 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 18 to 12 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 due to utility work.

NEW: There will be various lane closures on 4 Avenue between 1 Street S.E. and 9 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 to accommodate Water Service inspections.

NEW: The right lane on southbound Crowchild Trail will be closed at 33 Avenue S.W. from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 to allow for roadway repairs. At this time speed in the area will be reduced to 15 km/h.

NEW: 5 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to one lane at 2 Street S.W. from 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 18 to 5 a.m. on Monday, October 20 due to utility work.

NEW: Anderson Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 14 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, October 20 to accommodate traffic signal work in preparation for intersection upgrades. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.

Extended: Starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 14 until 2 p.m. on Monday, October 20 the access to 54 Avenue S.W. from northbound Crowchild Trail will be closed and traffic detoured to 50 Avenue S.W. The speed limit on northbound Crowchild Trail at 54 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to 50 km/h.  Southbound Crowchild Trail will be unaffected.

50 Avenue S.W. will be closed between19 Street S.W. and 20 Street S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, October 17 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 due to utility work.

26 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 18 Street S.W. and 19 Street S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, October 17 to 5 a.m. on Monday, October 20 due to utility work.
