Calgary Road Closures - October 10

Northeast

 

There will be various lane closures on 32 Avenue N.E. between Deerfoot Trail N.E. to Barlow Trail N.E. daily until Wednesday, October 15 to accommodate completion of maintenance and road paving.

 

Edmonton Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 16 Avenue N.E. and 28 Avenue N.E. Access to 18 Avenue N.E. and 21 Avenue N.E. through 23 Avenue N.E. will be restricted from Edmonton Trail. Construction will continue until late fall on the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

 

Northwest

 

144 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane between Shaganappi Trail and Sage Valley Road from 9 a.m. to  6 p.m. daily until Thursday, October 16  due to road paving.

The lower deck of the Centre Street Bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday October 11 for post-flood repair work.

 

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Southeast

 

NEW:  Starting Friday, October 10  until Sunday, October 26,  114 Avenue S.E. at Barlow Trail will have various lane closures and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily to allow for intersection upgrades.

 

NEW:  Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, October 10 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 5 Avenue S.E. between Centre Street and McLeod Trail will be down to one lane.

 

NEW:  Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, October 10 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 1 Street S.E. between 2 and 1 Street S.W.  will be reduced to a single lane.

 

NEW:  Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, October 10 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2 Street between 5 and 6 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to a single lane.

 

NEW: Glenmore Trail between Macleod Trail and Blackfoot Trail S.E., will have various multiple lanes closed and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h eastbound and westbound from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, October 12, to allow for Roads bridge inspections.

 

Until Wednesday October 22 at 3 p.m., there will be various lane closures, speed restriction to 50km/h, and flagman to stop traffic periodically for 5 minutes at a time at 50 Avenue S.E. and Barlow Trail.

This will happen on weekdays daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekends daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.. On Tuesday, October 14 work occurs from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. This work is to install new power lines.

 

On 7 a.m. Saturday, October 11 until 7 p.m. Sunday, October 12, Centre Street north of Glenmore Trail S.E. will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction to allow for water service repairs.

 

Starting Monday, October 6 for a duration of approximately two months, there will be various single lane closures in place 24/7, plus multiple lane closures during evenings and weekends to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Please note there will also be periodic road closures on the Heritage Drive connection to and from Glenmore Trail.

 

There will be various lane closures on 17 Avenue S.E. and Hubalta Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends until Saturday, October 11 due to road work.

 

The sidewalk on the south side of 7 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 3 Street S.E. and 4 Street S.E. from Saturday, September 29 to Saturday, November 15 due to Central Library construction.

 

Southbound Highfield Road will be closed between 26 Avenue S.E. and Blackfoot Trail from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 17 due to flood related slope reconstruction. Motorists are advised to access Blackfoot Trail from 26 Avenue S.E.

 

94 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. until Friday, October 31 due to utility work. At the same time, 60 Street S.E. will be closed between 90 Avenue S.E. and 94 Avenue S.E. Business access will be maintained.

 

There will be various lane closures on Spiller Road S.E. south of 25 Avenue S.E. starting Tuesday, August 26 until Tuesday, October 21 due to utility work.

 

4 Street S.E. will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the end of January 2015.  This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

 

Southwest

 

NEW: Starting on Friday, October 10 at 6 p.m. until Monday, October 13 at 5 a.m., Westbound 8 Avenue between 4 and 5 Street S.W. will be closed, and the left lane of  5 Street between 7 and 8 Avenue S.W. will be closed for the completion of a Water Main Replacement.

 

NEW: Starting Saturday, October 11 at 8 a.m. until Monday, October 13 at 7 p.m., eastbound 8 Avenue S.W. between 4 and 3 Street will be closed due to construction.

 

NEW: 13 Avenue SW between 1 and Centre Street will be closed from Friday October

 

NEW: Starting at  6 p.m. on Friday October 10, westbound 8 Avenue between 4 and 5 Street S.W. will be closed and the left lane of  5 Street between 7 and 8 Avenue S.W. will be closed for utility work.  This closure will end on Monday October 13 at 7 p.m.

 

NEW: Existing lane closures on north and southbound Crowchild Trail at 54 Avenue S.W. will be removed on Friday, October 10. Starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 14 until 7 p.m. Sunday, October 19 the access to 54 Avenue S.W. from northbound Crowchild Trail will be closed and traffic detoured to 50 Avenue S.W. The speed limit on northbound Crowchild Trail at 54 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to 50 km/h.  Southbound Crowchild Trail will be unaffected.

 

Starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 3 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, the left lane on both north and southbound Crowchild Trail at 54 Avenue S.W. will be closed and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/to allow for gas main repairs.
