Calgary road closures - May15, 2014

Northeast

NEW: Eastbound Memorial Drive will be closed between Edmonton Trail and 12 Street N.E. from 8 p.m. on Friday, May 16 due to the NE LRT platform replacement project. The left lane westbound will be closed by the station.

NEW: 36 Avenue N.E. will be closed between Edmonton Trail and 5 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 16 due to construction.

Southbound 52 Street N.E. is reduced to one lane at 26 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Friday, May 16 for utility work.

Eastbound Memorial Drive is reduced to one lane at 4 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Saturday, May 31 due to construction.

Northwest

NEW: Edmonton Trail will be closed at 17 Avenue N.W. and 18 Avenue N.W. from 5 a.m. on Friday, May 16 until early June due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

5 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 7 Street N.W. and 9A Street N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from Wednesday, May 14 to Friday, May 16 due to building construction.

Parking will be restricted on westbound Varsity Estates Drive at 53 Street N.W. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Monday, May 12 to Friday, May 16 due to utility work.

Southeast

NEW: 12 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 26 Street S.E. and 27 Street S.E. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 16 due to building construction.

NEW: Westbound Glenmore Trail will be reduced to one lane west of Ogden Road S.E. from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 18 due to utility work. At this time speed in the area will be reduced to 60km/h.

NEW: Eastbound Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. on Friday, May 16 to 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 due to construction.

Southport Road will be closed north of 99 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 16 due to emergency utility work. Traffic requiring access to the north end of Southport Road will be directed to Southland Drive to bypass the construction. Local business access will be maintained.

Spiller Road S.E. will be closed between 19 Avenue S.E. and 20 Avenue S.E. from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 due to emergency utility work.

Olympic Way S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 11 Avenue S.E. and 12 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Tuesday, May 13 to Friday, May 16 due to construction.

The right lane will be closed on southbound 52 Street S.E. between 68 Avenue and 72 Avenue S.E from 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 to Saturday, May 24 due to utility work. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h at this time. In addition, 68 Avenue S.E. will be closed west of 52 Street S.E. with traffic detoured to 64 Avenue and 72 Avenue S.E. The regional pathway on the west side of 52 Street S.E. will be closed and detoured to the east side of 52 Street S.E. Local business access will be maintained. Alternate routes such as Barlow Trail are recommended as delays are expected.

Southwest

NEW: 14 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 16 Avenue S.W. until 3 p.m. on Friday, May 16 due to emergency utility work.

NEW: Two right lanes on 6 Street S.W. will be closed between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 due to +15 maintenance.

NEW: Three right lanes on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 4 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 due to +15 maintenance.

4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 4 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. from 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 due to utility work.

6 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to three lanes between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 15 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16 due to construction.

17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to one lane in each direction at Richmond Road S.W. due to emergency utility work.

There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between 6 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays, and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Work will be ongoing until mid-summer. Visit Calgary.ca for more information.

14 Street S.W. will be closed at 29 Avenue S.W. from 8 a.m. on Monday, May 12 until Wednesday, May 21 due to utility work.

There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road from Monday, May 12 until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.

Two left lanes on 4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 3 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. during peak hours. During off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) three left lanes will be closed. The first phase of this project is expected to last until the end of May.

2 Avenue S.W. is closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. until July 3 at 6 p.m.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
