Northeast

NEW: Reduced lanes (right lane closed) on eastbound 32 Avenue N.E. at 32 Street N.E. on Wednesday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This closure accommodates paving.

Reduced lanes (right lane closed) on southbound Barlow Trail N.E. and on westbound Stone Hill Gate N.E. starting Tuesday, May 9 at 8 a.m. until Friday, May 12 at 7 p.m. These closures accommodate utility work.

115 Avenue N.E. is closed between 14 Street N.E. and 18 Street N.E. through 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12 and accommodates construction. Use alternate routes.

Country Hills Boulevard N.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Barlow Trail and 25 Street N.E. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 and accommodates construction.

Reduced lanes on Barlow Trail N.E. north of Country Hills Boulevard N.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 1. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9 and accommodates road construction.

Northbound 11 Street N.E. is closed at Aero Gate N.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2. Local access will be maintained during the closure. This closure remains in place until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9 and accommodates utility work.

Skyview Ranch Drive N.E. is closed between Skyview Shores Manor and Skyview Ranch Street N.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 1. This closure continues until 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 and accommodates road construction.

Northwest

Reduced lanes on westbound Silver Spring Boulevard N.W. at Silver Grove Drive N.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Friday, May 5. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Friday, May 12 and accommodates utility work.

Reduced lanes on westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of 14 Street N.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this closure, the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr. through the construction zone. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Monday, May 15 and accommodates construction.

Various single lane closures on 16 Avenue N.W. at 29 Street N.W. / Uxbridge Drive N.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 17. Pedestrian and vehicle detours will be indicated via signage. This closure is part of an intersection improvement project and is expected to continue through October 2017.

16 Ave NW / Bowfort Road Interchange Improvements

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 23 there will be a new traffic pattern on eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. at Bowfort Road N.W. Motorists wishing to access Bowfort Road should remain in the left lane, all other traffic will be diverted under the bridge.
  • Daily lane reductions on Bowfort Road N.W. and 16 Avenue N.W. through the project limits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice.

Southeast

NEW: Southbound 3 Street S.E. between 6 Avenue and 8 Avenue S.E. will be fully closed starting on Wednesday, May 10 at 7 a.m. until early July. Access to Lot 47 will be available at all times and can only be accessed from 9 Avenue S.E. Please use alternate routes and expect delays. This closure accommodates the 3 Street corridor improvement project.

NEW: Road closure at 3 Street S.E. between 6 Avenue and 7 Avenue S.E. starting Wednesday, May 10 at 7 a.m. until Friday, June 16 at 12 p.m. This closure accommodates construction.

17 Ave S.E. BRT Project

  • Eastbound 17 Avenue S.E. has reduced lanes east of 19 Street S.E. daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays through 3 p.m. on Friday, May 12.

6 Avenue S.E. is closed between 5 Street S.E. and Confluence Way S.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 24. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 and accommodates deep utility work. Local access will be maintained. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and use alternate routes.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • The left lane will be closed on northbound and Southbound Barlow Trail south of Glenmore Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, May 8 until Friday, May 12 to allow for road work related to the Glenmore Trail / Ogden Road interchange project. Barlow Trail at Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/h, that will remain in effect 24/7 for duration of construction.
  • The Shepard Road access south of Glenmore is closed. There will be a new access created at 24 Street S.E. south of Glenmore Trail, west of the existing Shepard Road alignment. Traffic requiring to access Shepard Road south of Glenmore Trial will be detoured via the new 24 Street S.E. exit and then along 86 Avenue S.E. to reconnect with Shepard Road.

Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue construction project

  • There will be various lane closures on southbound Macleod Trail between Shawnessy Boulevard / Midlake Boulevard and 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, May 8 until Friday, May 12.
  • There will be various lane closures on northbound Macleod Trail between 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard and Shawnessy Boulevard / Midlake Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on Monday, May 8 until Friday, May 12.
  • The right lane will be closed on northbound and southbound Shawville Boulevard at 162 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, May 8 until Friday, May 12.
  • The right lane will be closed on northbound and southbound Shawville Boulevard at 162 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.

Southwest

NEW: Reduced lanes on westbound 6 Avenue S.W at 11 Street S.W. on Wednesday, May 10 from 8 a.m. 3 p.m. The southbound cycle lane will also be closed at this time. Motorists and cyclists are asked to share the road. These closures are to accommodate traffic signal work.

NEW: Road and sidewalk closures at 1 Street S.W. between 10 Avenue and 12 Avenue S.W. starting Wednesday, May 10 at 7 a.m. until Saturday, June 10 at 7 p.m. This closure accommodates construction.

Various lane closures on 1 Street S.W. between 10 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.W. starting Monday, May 8 at 7 a.m. until Saturday, June 10. Safe pedestrian access will be maintained and access to businesses and residents will be accommodated during construction. These closures accommodate 1 Street corridor improvement project. Use alternate routes and expect delays.

1 Street is closed between 14 Avenue and 15 Avenue S.W. starting Monday, May 8 at 7 a.m. until Thursday, May 11 at 7 p.m. This closure accommodates construction. Use alternate routes.

Sheriff King Street S is closed between 194 Avenue S.W. and 210 Avenue S.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1. This closure remains in place until Saturday, May 13 at 12 p.m. and accommodates construction.

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

  • NEW: Reduced lanes on southbound 1 Street S.E. between 15 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.E. on Wednesday, May 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This closure accommodates construction.
  • NEW: Road closure at 1 Street S.W. between 15 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.W. starting Wednesday, May 10 at 7 a.m. until Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m. This closure accommodates construction.
  • 17 Avenue S.W. is closed between Macleod Trail S.E. and 1 Street S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 17. During this closure, local business access will be maintained. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 19.

Special Events

Scouts Canada Soap Box Derby – Saturday, May 13

  • Lake Ontario Drive S.E. will be closed between Lake Crimson Drive S.E. and Lake Sylvan Drive S.E. from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.

18th Annual Dashmesh Culture Centre Sikh Parade – Saturday, May 13

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 the route of the Dashmesh Culture Centre – Annual Sikh Parade will have the following lane reductions and road closures:

  • Martindale Boulevard N.E. will be closed between Martindale Gate N.E. and Falconridge Boulevard N.E.
  • Falconridge Boulevard N.E. will be reduced to a single northbound lane between Taradale Drive N.E. / Martindale Boulevard N.E. to 64 Avenue N.E.
  • 64 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to single lane in each direction on the south side of the road between Falconridge Boulevard N.E. and Martindale Gate N.E.
  • Martindale Gate N.E. will be reduced to two lanes on the west side of the road between 64 Avenue N.E. and Martindale Boulevard N.E.
  • Please be aware there will be a large presence of Calgary Police directing traffic onsite.
  • Please watch for pedestrians as this is expected to be a mass gathering of people.

40th Annual Sport Chek Mother’s Day 5 km and 10 km Run, Walk and Ride – Sunday, May 14

From 6 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 14 the route for the Annual Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run, Walk and Ride will be closed to motorists. The lane closures, which will accommodate runners and pedestrians along the route, are:

  • Macleod Trail will be reduced to two lanes for northbound traffic between Glenmore Trail and Mission Road.
  • Macleod Trail will be reduced to one lane for southbound traffic between Glenmore Trail and Mission Road.
  • Southbound Elbow Drive S.W. will be reduced to one lane each direction between 4 Street S.W. and Lansdowne Avenue S.W., and the northbound lanes will be closed to traffic.
  • 4 Street S.W. will be closed between 42 Avenue S.W. and 58 Avenue S.W.
  • 58 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 5 Street S.W. and Macleod Trail.
  • Mission Road S.W. will be reduced to one lane, northbound only between 4 Street S.W. and Macleod Trail.
  • There will limited parking in the area, participants are advised to use Calgary Transit.

Motorists are reminded that there will be a heavy police presence on site.

Alberta Transportation

Alberta Transportation maintains Deerfoot Trail (Hwy.2) and Stoney Trail (Hwy. 201). For more information on work happening on these roads visit Alberta Transportation’s website.

Southwest Ring Road Project
