Calgary road closures - May 8, 2014

Northeast

Edmonton Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 16 Avenue N.E. and 28 Avenue N.E. starting Monday, May 5 due to road reconstruction. Please visit Calgary.ca/edmontontrail for more information and the latest updates on this project.

Southbound 52 Street N.E. will be reduced to one lane at 26 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Thursday, May 1 to Friday, May 16 due to utility work.

Eastbound Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane at 4 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Friday, April 25 to Saturday, May 31 due to construction.

Northwest

NEW: Sherwood Boulevard N.W. will be closed at Sherwood Parade N.W. from 6 a.m. on Friday, May 9 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 11 due to utility work.

NEW: 5 Avenue N.W. will be closed at 19 Street N.W from 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 11 due to utility work.

Eastbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at Stoney Trail from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily from Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 9 due to construction.

There will be various lane closures on eastbound Memorial Drive between Crowchild Trail and 16 Street N.W. until Thursday, May 15 due to riverbank restoration. On weekdays lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Southeast

NEW: Northbound 3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane between 6 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. from 6 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, May 8 due to construction.

6 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 4 Street S.E. and 5 Street S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, May 5 to Tuesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 8 to Friday, May 9 due to construction.

Confluence Way S.E. will be closed between Riverfront Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. from 8 a.m. on Monday, May 5 to 6 a.m. on Monday, May 12 due to construction.

Ogden Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 34 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30 until Monday, May 12 due to utility work. Delays expected. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes like Blackfoot Trail.

The right lane on southbound 52 Street S.E. between 68 Avenue S.E. and 72 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 to Sunday, May 11 due to utility work. At the same time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h. In addition 68 Avenue S.E. will be closed west of 52 Street S.E. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes like Barlow Trail.

Southwest

NEW: Due to road work occurring this summer expect delays on 14 Street S.W. between 6 Avenue S.W. and 7 Avenue S.W. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Check back regularly for more details.

NEW: Parking will be restricted on 2 Avenue S.W. between 3 Street S.W. and 4 Street S.W. from 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 due to construction.

Heritage Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Elbow Drive with left turn restricted from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from Sunday, May 4 to Friday, May 9 due to utility work. At the same time Elbow Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction with left turns restricted.

Two left lanes on 4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 3 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. during peak hours. During off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) three left lanes will be closed. The first phase of this project is expected to last until the end of May.

2 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. from Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m. until July 3 at 6 p.m.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

Scouts Canada Soap Box Derby

Lake Ontario Drive S.E. will be closed between Lake Crimson Drive S.E. and Lake Sylvan Drive S.E. from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday May, 10

Dashmesh Culture Centre – Annual Sikh Parade

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday May 10 the route of the Dashmesh Culture Centre – Annual Sikh Parade will have the following lane reductions and road closures:

  • Martindale Boulevard N.E. will be closed between Martindale Gate N.E. and Falconridge Boulevard N.E.
  • Falconridge Boulevard N.E. will be reduced to two lanes on the east side of the road between Taradale Drive N.E./Martindale Boulevard N.E. to 64 Avenue N.E.
  • 64 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to two lanes on the south side of the road between Falconridge Boulevard N.E. and Martindale Gate N.E.
  • Martindale Gate N.E. will be reduced to two lanes on the west side of the road between 64 Avenue N.E. and Martindale Boulevard N.E.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and that due to the parade there will be a large police presence in the area.

Sport Chek 37th Annual Mother’s Day 5 km and 10 km Road Race

From 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 11, the route for the Sport Chek 37th Annual Mother’s Day Run and Walk will be closed to motorists. The lane closures, which will accommodate runners and pedestrians along the route, are:

  • Macleod Trail will be reduced to two lanes for northbound traffic between Glenmore Trail and Mission Road.
  • Macleod Trail will be reduced to one lane for southbound traffic between Glenmore Trail and Mission Road.
  • Elbow Drive will be reduced to two lanes on the south side between 4 Street S.W. and Lansdowne Avenue S.W.
  • 4 Street S.W. will be closed between 42 Avenue S.W. and 58 Avenue S.W.
  • 58 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 5 Street S.W. and Macleod Trail.
  • Mission Road S.W. will be reduced to one lane, northbound only, between 4 Street S.W. and Macleod Trail.

Motorists are advised that there will be a heavy police presence on site.
