Calgary road closures - May 20, 2014

NOTE:  6 Avenue S.W. is closed at 7 Street S.W. until further notice due to falling debris from a building in the area. Southbound 7 Street S.W. is also closed at 5 Avenue S.W. Expect delays.

Northeast

Eastbound Memorial Drive is reduced to one lane at 4 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Saturday, May 31 due to construction.

Northwest

NEW: The left lane on southbound Nose Hill Drive N.W will be closed at John Laurie Boulevard N.W. from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 due to construction. At this time left hand turns on northbound Nose Hill Drive N.W. will be restricted.

Edmonton Trail will be closed at 17 Avenue N.W. and 18 Avenue N.W. from 5 a.m. on Friday, May 16 until early June due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

Southeast

NEW: 3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 7 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 due to construction.

NEW: 12 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 26 Street S.E. and 27 Street S.E. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 due to building construction.

Two centre lanes on 5 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 1 Street S.E. and Centre Street from 8 a.m. on Monday, May 19 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 25 due to utility work.

The right lane on westbound Riverfront Avenue S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 23 due to riverbank stabilization work.

The right lane will be closed on southbound 52 Street S.E. between 68 Avenue and 72 Avenue S.E from 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 to Saturday, May 24 due to utility work. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h at this time. In addition, 68 Avenue S.E. will be closed west of 52 Street S.E. with traffic detoured to 64 Avenue and 72 Avenue S.E. The regional pathway on the west side of 52 Street S.E. will be closed and detoured to the east side of 52 Street S.E. Local business access will be maintained. Alternate routes such as Barlow Trail are recommended as delays are expected.

Southwest

NEW: The right lane will be closed on southbound Crowchild Trail at 33 Avenue S.W. from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. nightly on Wednesday, May 21 and Thursday, May 22 then again from 8 p.m. Friday, May 23 until 10 p.m. Sunday, May 25 due to utility work. At this time the speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.

NEW: There will be various lane closures on eastbound Bow Trail between Sarcee Trail and 37 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily on weekends from Wednesday, May 21 to Wednesday, June 4 due to construction. At this time the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h.

 13 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. from 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 due to utility work.

17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to one lane in each direction at Richmond Road S.W. due to emergency utility work.

There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between 6 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays, and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Work will be ongoing until mid-summer. Visit Calgary.ca for more information.

14 Street S.W. will be closed at 29 Avenue S.W. from 8 a.m. on Monday, May 12 until Wednesday, May 21 due to utility work.

There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road from Monday, May 12 until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.

Two left lanes on 4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 3 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. during peak hours. During off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) three left lanes will be closed. The first phase of this project is expected to last until the end of May.

2 Avenue S.W. is closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. until July 3 at 6 p.m.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
