Calgary road closures - May 14, 2015

Northeast

NEW: Eastbound and westbound Memorial Drive N.E. at 9 Street N.E. will be reduced to single lane traffic beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure continues until 4 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19 and accommodates Calgary Transit work.

NEW: 12 Avenue N.E. between Edmonton Trail N.E. and 4 Street N.E. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure continues until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 17 and accommodates water services work.

The right lane of westbound Country Hills Boulevard N.E. is closed between Metis Trail N.E. and 36 Street N.E. daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Wednesday, May 13. This closure continues until Wednesday, May 27 and accommodates construction.

The right lane of 64 Avenue N.E. between 9 Street N.E. and 11 Street N.E. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 11. This closure continues until 3 p.m. on Friday, May 22 and accommodates construction.

Northbound 36 Street N.E. is reduced to a single left lane between 24 Avenue N.E. and 25 Avenue N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 4. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 24 and accommodates construction.

2 Street N.E. between 5 Avenue N.E. and 9 Avenue N.E. will have various lane closures beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. These closures will continue until Monday, June 15 and accommodate utility upgrade work.

Northwest

NEW: The right lane of westbound John Laurie Boulevard at Hawkwood Hill N.W. will be closed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure accommodates streetlight work.

NEW: Blackiston Drive N.W. between Blow Street N.W. and Bell Street N.W. will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure continues until 9 p.m. on Friday, May 22 and accommodates crane work.

Shaganappi Trail N.W. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily beginning Thursday, May 14. This closure will continue during these hours until Thursday, May 21 and accommodates concrete work.

The centre lanes of Memorial Drive N.W. between 10 Street N.W. and 14 Street N.W. will be closed between 11 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 and 1 a.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure accommodates traffic work.

The left lane of southbound Northmount Drive N.W. at Connaught Drive N.W. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13. This closure continues until 3 p.m. on Friday, May 15 and accommodates utility work.

144 Avenue N.W. at 14 Street N.W. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 7. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20 and accommodates utility installation.

Country Hills Boulevard N.W. east of Rocky Ridge Road N.W. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 4. This construction project continues until the end of June.

Southbound 10 Street N.W. at 2 Avenue N.W. is reduced to a single left lane. This closure remains in place until the end of May and accommodates new development construction.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of May due to utility work.

Southeast

NEW: Southbound 3 Street S.E. will be closed between at 6 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure remains in place until Tuesday, May 19 at 5 a.m. and accommodates LRT work. Traffic in the area will be detoured, and motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

Update: The right lanes of eastbound and westbound Southland Drive S.E. at Fairmount Drive S.E. are closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, May 11. This closure continues daily during these hours until Friday, May 15, and again on Tuesday, May 19 through Friday, May 22. This closure accommodates traffic signal work.

The exit ramp allowing u-turns from southbound 1 Street S.E. to northbound Macleod Trail S.E., north of 25 Avenue S.E., will be partially closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, May 11. This closure continues daily during these hours until Friday, May 15 and allows preliminary work for the Victoria Trail Bridge rehabilitation project. The existing westbound left lane closure and 60 km/h speed reduction will remain in place 24/7 until mid-May across the Graves Bridge over the Bow River on Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street S.E. Multiple westbound lane closures will be allowed during evenings and weekends. The eastbound right lane will be closed and the speed reduced to 60 km/h on the Graves Bridge, Beginning Monday, May 11 and remains in place 24/7 until mid-June. This is the continuation of the Water Services new water main installation, using bridge structure as above ground support to cross Bow River.

The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of westbound 9 Avenue S.E. at 4 Street S.E. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 30. This closure remains in place until 6 p.m. on Monday, May 25 and accommodates construction.

Various lane and sidewalk closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 5 Street S.E. daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Wednesday, April 29. These closures will continue during these hours daily until Monday, May 25 and accommodate construction.

94 Avenue S.E. between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 20. The closure will remain in place until 8.pm. on Friday, July 31 and accommodates new road construction.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: The right lane of eastbound Bow Trail S.W. between 28 Street S.W. and 32 Street S.W. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure will continue until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 18 and accommodates sanitary line upgrades.

The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of 5 Avenue S.W. at 2 Street S.W. is closed between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15. This closure accommodates construction.

Bow Trail S.W. at 6 Avenue S.W. will have various closures between 11 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 and 1 a.m. on Friday, May 15. This closure accommodates work related to the 5 Avenue S.W. lane reversal.

The north lane of 12 Avenue S.W. between 5 Street S.W. and 11 Street S.W. is permanently closed beginning on May 4 due to cycle track construction.

12 Avenue S.W. between 32 Street S.W. and 28 Street S.W. will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, May 1. This closure will continue until 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 31 and accommodates sanitary line upgrades.

5 Street S.W. between 2 Avenue S.W. and 3 Avenue S.W. will be closed beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4. This closure will continue until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 8 and accommodates +15 construction between Eau Claire Tower and Centennial Place.

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.

Cycle Track Closures

  • From now until May 18, 2015, there will be no parking permitted on either side of 12 Avenue between 11 St. S.W. and 3 St. S.E. due to construction activities. From Monday, May 4 onwards, a permanent lane closure will take effect on the north side of 12 Avenue from 11 St. S.W. to 5 St. S.W.
  • From Sunday, May 10 onwards, there will be no parking permitted on either side of 8 Avenue between 11 St. S.W. and 3 St. S.W. due to lane spotting and lane marking work.
  • From Sunday, May 10 onwards, there will be no parking permitted on either side of 5 Street between 3 Ave. S.W. and 17 Ave. S.W. due to lane marking work.
