Calgary road closures - March 28, 2014

Northwest

NEW: Westbound Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane between 3 Street N.W. and 10 Street N.W. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 due to utility work.

NEW: Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 to 5 a.m. on Monday, March 31 due to construction.

NEW: 14 Street N.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Kensington Road from 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 due to utility work.

Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Crowchild Trail and 16 Street N.W. from Wednesday, March 19 to Thursday, May 15 due to riverbank restoration. On weekdays lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Southeast

NEW: Eastbound Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane at Barlow Trail from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30 due to utility work.

NEW: Northbound Blackfoot Trail will be reduced to one lane at 34 Avenue S.E. from 10 p.m. on Sunday, March, 30 to 5 a.m. on Monday, March 31 due to utility work. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h and left turns will be restricted.

NEW: There will be various lane closures on 2 Street S.E. between 51 Avenue S.E. and 53 Avenue S.E. from 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 due to utility work.  Traffic will be detoured to 3 Street S.E. to bypass the construction. Local business access will be maintained.

Extended: The speed on Blackfoot Trail will be reduced to 60 km/h at 53 Avenue S.E. until mid-April due to construction. In addition, there will be continued stages of construction along 53 Avenue S.E. between Blackfoot Trail and 2 Street S.E until mid-April due to utility work.

54 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 48 Street S.E. and 52 Street S.E. from 9 a.m. on Friday, March 28 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 due to utility work.  Motorists are advised to use 61 Avenue S.E. as an alternative.

114 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 56 Street S.E. and 64 Street from 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31 due to utility work. Traffic will be detoured to Glenmore Trail or Stoney Trail /Highway 22X.  Drivers wanting to access to Shepard Landfill are advised to use Stoney Trail to 114 Avenue S.E. Local business access will be maintained.

Ogden Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 14 Street S.E. from 10 p.m. on Thursday, March 27 to 5 a.m. Friday, March 28 due to utility work. Left turns will be prohibited at this time.

Southwest

NEW: 4 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 21 Avenue S.W. from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 due to traffic signal installation.

The right lane on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between Centre Street and 1 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 to Wednesday, April 30. During morning and evening peak hours this lane will be used for pedestrians while work is being done on the sidewalk.

Special Events:

Glencoe Club Ice Breaker 10 km Road Race
The right lane of Elbow Drive between 32 Avenue S.W. and 4 street S.W., will be closed, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 6.
