Calgary road closures - March 27, 2015

Northeast

NEW: The right turn lane on northbound 52 Street N.E. at Temple Drive N.E. will be reduced beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 30. This closure will remain in place until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 and accommodates utility work.

Update: Various lane closures on Saddletowne Circle N.E. at Martindale Drive N.E. will occur daily, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 16. These closures will continue during these hours until Wednesday, April 1 and will accommodate the installation of new utilities.

21 Avenue N.E. will be closed between Centre Street N.E. and 1 Street N.E. beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25. This closure will remain in place until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 and will accommodate the installation of new services.

The centre lane in all directions at Olympic Way S.E. and 11 Avenue S.E. are closed beginning 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16. The closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 and will accommodate utility work.

Northwest

NEW: Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one-lane at 17 Street N.W. between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. This closure will accommodate crane work.

Bowness Road N.W. will be reduced to one-lane in each direction between 16 Avenue N.W. and 43 Street N.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 27. This closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 29 at 8 p.m.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of March due to utility work.

Southeast

ALERT: Centre Street South between 17 Avenue and 18 Avenue is closed. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes. This closure will remain in place until further notice.

NEW: 30 Street S.E. between Glenmore Trail S.E. and 80 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29. This closure will allow for utility work related to the Glenmore Trail S.E. / Ogden Road S.E. interchange project. Traffic will be detoured to 31 Street S.E. and to 72 Avenue S.E. via Barlow Trail S.E. to bypass construction.

NEW: Westbound lane closures resume across the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail S.E. over the Bow River, west of 18 Street S.E. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 30. A single westbound left lane closure and 60 km/hr speed reduction will be in place 24/7 and multiple westbound lane closures will occur during evenings and weekends. Eastbound lane closures will no longer be required. This work will continue throughout the month of April and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: Northbound 36 Street S.E. at 30 Avenue S.E. will have the left lane closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, March 30 to allow for water service utility upgrades.

9 Avenue S.E. is closed between 14 Street S.E. and 14A Street S.E. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27. Traffic will be detoured to 10 Avenue S.E. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, March 30 and will accommodate utility repairs.

Southbound Ogden Road S.E. is closed between Highfield Boulevard S.E. and 14 Street S.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 27. A two-way traffic setup will be implemented in the northbound lanes. The closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 and accommodates water utility upgrades.

51 Street S.E. between 77 Avenue S.E. and 80 Avenue S.E. is closed beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 26. The closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 29 and accommodates construction.

3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to single two-way traffic beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 19. This closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 29 and accommodates utility work.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Southwest

NEW: 5 Street S.W. will be closed between 12 Avenue S.W. and 13 Avenue S.W. beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 27. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, March 30 and will accommodate crane installation. Southbound traffic will be detoured to 4 Street S.W.

NEW: Westbound Sifton Boulevard S.W. between 7 Street S.W. and 8 Street S.W. will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 30. This closure will remain in place until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 and accommodates utility construction.

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.

The right lane of northbound/eastbound Elbow Drive between 32 Avenue S.W. and 4 Street S.W. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 29. Motorists are advised to keep an eye out for runners in communities adjacent to the Elbow Park area.
