Calgary road closures - March 2, 2014

ALERT: Northbound 14 Street N.W. at 14 Avenue N.W. is reduced to a single right lane for emergency water main repair. This closure is in place until further notice.

ALERT: Westbound 8 Avenue S.W. is closed at 5 Street S.W. for emergency water repair until the parking lanes can be cleared. Once clear, a two way traffic setup on the south side of 8 Avenue S.W. between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. will be installed. This closure will remain in place until Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m.

Northeast

Update: Eastbound McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 19 Street N.E. and Barlow Trail N.E. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 3. The closure will accommodate utility work.

The right lane will be closed on eastbound 64 Avenue N.E. at 9 Street N.E. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 2. This closure will continue through the week until Friday, March 6 and will accommodate utility repairs.

The left lane on westbound 16 Avenue N.E. at Center Street will be reduced between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 2. The closure will continue through the week until Friday, March 6 and will accommodate utility repairs.

27 Street N.E. south of 32 Avenue N.E. is closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 2. The closure will remain in place until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 and accommodates water utility work.

The left lane on northbound Metis Trail N.E. will be closed at 128 Avenue N.E. beginning Friday, February 27 and continuing until Thursday, March 5. This closure will be in place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, except on Saturdays when restrictions will be in place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This closure will accommodate utility work.

Northwest

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of March due to utility work.

Southeast

NEW: Southbound Erin Woods Drive S.E. at Erin Grove Bay S.E. will be reduced to single lane traffic starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3. The closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 and will accommodate water service repairs.

Westbound Avonburn Road S.E. will be closed at 86 Avenue S.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 2. Traffic will be detoured to Fairmount Drive to bypass construction, while local-only traffic will be directed to the south side of 86 Avenue S.E. at Avonburn Road S.E. The closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 and will accommodate construction in the area.

3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the middle of March 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Single lane closures will continue on Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE until March 8, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.

The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015.

Southwest

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.
