Calgary road closures - March 17, 2015

ALERT: Centre Street South between 17 Avenue and 18 Avenue is closed. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes. This closure will remain in place until further notice.

Northeast

NEW: Northbound 19 Street N.E. at 35 Avenue N.E. is closed due to an emergency water main break. A two-way traffic setup is currently in place in the southbound lanes. This closure will remain in place until further notice.

NEW: Northbound 52 Street N.E. at 16 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to a single left lane beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18. Further, the centre lanes of Rundlehorn Drive N.E. will be closed east of 52 Street N.E. beginning at this time. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, March 23 and will accommodate water service replacement.

NEW: The center lanes of Edmonton Trail N.E. at 30 Avenue N.E. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18. This closure will accommodate utility work.

The centre lane in all directions at Olympic Way S.E. and 11 Avenue S.E. are closed beginning 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16. The closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 and will accommodate utility work.,

56 Street N.E. is closed between 28 Avenue N.E. and Pinestream Place N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 16. The closure will remain until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 and accommodates the installation of new utilities.

Various lane closures on Saddletowne Circle N.E. at Martindale Drive N.E. will occur daily, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 16. These closures will continue during these hours until Monday, March 30 and will accommodate the installation of new utilities.

The left turn bay on eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. at 2 Street N.E. is partially closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16. This closure will continue daily during these hours until Friday, March 20 and will accommodate utility work.

Airport Trail N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Barlow Trail and 36 Street N.E. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily starting Wednesday, March 11 until Friday, March 20 due to construction.

 

Northwest

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of March due to utility work.

 

Southeast

The shoulder on westbound Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE is closed until the end of March, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. This section of Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.

Southbound 4 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue S.E. and 11 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to a single lane, beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10. This closure will remain in place until Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. and will accommodate Enmax utility work. Further, Northbound 4 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue S.E. and 11 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to single lane two-way traffic during these dates between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the middle of March 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

 

Southwest

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.
