Calgary road closures - March 12, 2015

ALERT: Eastbound 17 Avenue S.E. between Centre Street South and 1 Street S.E. is closed. A two-way traffic setup is in place in the westbound lanes. Drivers are advised to expect delays. This closure will remain in place until further notice.

ALERT: Centre Street South between 17 Avenue and 18 Avenue is closed. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes. This closure will remain in place until further notice.

 

Northeast

NEW: Centre Street N between 32 Street N.E. and 34 Street N.E. will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13. The closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 and will accommodate utility work.

Southbound Hunterhorn Road N.E. at 64 Avenue N.E. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 12. There will be a two-way traffic setup in the northbound lanes of Hunterhorn Road N.E. at 64 Avenue N.E. This closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 and accommodates water utility work.

Airport Trail N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Barlow Trail and 36 Street N.E. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily starting Wednesday, March 11 until Friday, March 20 due to construction.

The right lane on southbound Metis Trail N.E. will be closed at 128 Avenue N.E. beginning Tuesday, March 10. This closure will be in place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, except on Saturdays when restrictions will be in place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This closure will accommodate utility work and will remain in place until Sunday, March 15.

The right lane will be closed on eastbound 64 Avenue N.E. at 9 Street N.E. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 9. This closure will continue through the week until Friday, March 13 and will accommodate utility repairs.

 

Northwest

NEW: 14 Street N.W. at 11 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 13. This closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 and will accommodate sanitary line repair.

NEW: Shaganappi Trail N.W. between Crowchild Trail N.W. and Northland Drive / Dalhousie Drive N.W. will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Friday, March 13. This closure will also occur during these hours on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15. It will accommodate the installation of the Shaganappi pedestrian overpass.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of March due to utility work.

 

Southeast

NEW: The right lane on northbound Macleod Trail S.E. between 12 Avenue S.E. and 14 Avenue S.E. is closed beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday, March 16. The closure will remain in place until 3 a.m. on Monday, March 16 and will accommodate Transit work.

NEW: Auburn Meadows Avenue between 52 Street S.E and Auburn Meadows Way S.E. will be closed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, March 13 to allow for concrete pouring. Traffic will be detoured to Auburn Bay Drive S.E. and Auburn Meadows Drive S.E. to bypass the construction.

NEW: The left lane on northbound 36 Street S.E. at 30 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, March 13. This closure will allow for water utility upgrades.

The shoulder on westbound Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE is closed until the end of March, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. This section of Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.

The right lane on northbound Barlow Trail at 106 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily beginning Wednesday, March 11. Speed will be restricted to 50 km/h, and the closure will remain in place during these hours until Friday, March 13. This closure accommodates traffic signal repair

Southbound 4 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue S.E. and 11 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to a single lane, beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10. This closure will remain in place until Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. and will accommodate Enmax utility work. Further, Northbound 4 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue S.E. and 11 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to single lane two-way traffic during these dates between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the middle of March 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

 

Southwest

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.

The right lane on Macleod Trail will be closed between 7 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Wednesday, March 11 to Thursday, March 12.

Calgary Road Runners Club – St. Patrick’s Day Road Race 2015

Sunday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.:

  • 21 Street S.W. will be closed between 50 Avenue S.W. and 58 Avenue S.W.
  • 19 Street S.W. will be closed between 53 Avenue S.W. and 58 Avenue S.W.
  • Northbound Crowchild Trail S.W. will be reduced to a single left lane between 66 Avenue S.W. to the Entrance of North Glenmore Park will be closed.
