Unplanned work

Update: 19 Street N.W. is closed between 5 Avenue N.W. and 6 Avenue N.W. is closed due to an emergency water main repair. This closure is expected to be in place until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 1.

Northeast

NEW: Edmonton Trail N.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction from 16 Avenue N.E. to 14 Avenue N.E. from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2. This closure accommodates paving, for more information visit Calgary.ca/paving.

NEW: Edmonton Trail N.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 14 Avenue N.E. and 4 Avenue N.E. from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. This closure accommodates paving, for more information visit Calgary.ca/paving.

NEW: Edmonton Trail N.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 5 Avenue N.E. and Memorial Drive from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 3. This closure accommodates paving, for more information visit Calgary.ca/paving.

NEW: The right lane of northbound Edmonton Trail N.E. and adjacent sidewalk is closed at 4 Avenue N.E. from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. is closed at 1 Street N.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, July 4. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 8 and accommodates construction.

41 Avenue N.E. is closed between 1 Street S.E. and Edmonton Trail N.E. beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 and accommodates underground utility work.

Various closures in both directions of the Airport Tunnel between Barlow Trail N.E. and 36 Street N.E. daily from 8:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1. This closure accommodates storm system maintenance.

Aviation Road N.E. is closed between Aviation Boulevard and 15 Street N.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. During this closure, local business access will be maintained. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 and is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project.

There will be new traffic patterns on McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 12 Street N.E. and 19 Street N.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. Westbound McKnight will be closed in this stretch and narrowed two-way traffic will be in place in the eastbound lanes. This work is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project and will be in place through September 2016.

The right lane of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. is closed at 1 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, June 1. This closure repeats during these hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through June and accommodates construction.

36 Street N.E. will be closed between 64 Avenue N.E. and Airport Trail N.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, May 16. During this closure, traffic travelling northbound on 36 Street N.E. will be restricted to local only access at 64 Avenue N.E. During this closure, traffic travelling westbound on 80 Avenue N.E. will be diverted to southbound 40 Street N.E. There will be no access to Airport Trail from 80 Avenue N.E. during this closure. Detours using Metis Trail N.E. around construction zone are recommended. This closure continues until mid-October 2016 and accommodates road widening by a developer.

Northwest

NEW: Various lane closures on 29 Street N.W. between Memorial Drive/ Parkdale Boulevard and 4 Avenue N.W. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1. This closure accommodates paving work.

NEW: The right lane of southbound Sarcee Trail N.W. is closed at Stoney Trail N.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting on Monday, July 4. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 and accommodates construction.

NEW: Various single lane closures in all directions at Kensington Road and 14 Street N.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, July 4. These closures continue daily until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 8 and accommodate traffic signal work.

NEW: The Prince’s Island Park pedestrian bridge will have a reduced width beginning at 7 a.m. on July 4, 2016. This closure will continue through September 2016 and accommodates replacement of a non-slip coating.

NEW: 14 Street N.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 21 Avenue and 8 Avenue N.W. nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning on Monday, July 4. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes at Crowchild Trail N.W. and 10 Street N.W. and expect delays in the area. This closure continues nightly during these hours until Friday, July 8 at 5 a.m. and accommodates work related to paving, for more information on paving visit Calgary.ca/paving.

Southbound 14 Street N.W. is closed between 21 Avenue and 8 Avenue N.W. nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30. During the closure, the ramps from 16 Avenue to 14 Street N.W. and 14 Avenue N.W. to 14 Street N.W. will be closed for paving. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes at Crowchild Trail N.W. and 10 Street N.W. and expect delays in the area. This closure accommodates work related to paving, for more information on paving visit Calgary.ca/paving.

Various curb lane closures on John Laure Boulevard N.W. between McKnight Boulevard and 14 Street N.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning Monday, June 27. These closures continue daily until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 1. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. This closure accommodates work related to paving, for more information on paving visit Calgary.ca/paving.

144 Avenue N.W. is closed between Centre Street North and 14 Street N.W. for roadway upgrades through November 2016.

The right lane of westbound 24 Avenue N.W. is closed between 23 Street N.W. and Crowchild Trail N.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 3. This closure continues through August 2016 and accommodates the construction of a retaining wall. During this closure, pedestrians will be diverted to the south crosswalk through the affected area.

Various single curb lane closures on 14 Street N.W. from 8 Avenue N.W. to 21 Avenue N.W. beginning on Monday, June 6. The closures will occur in various single northbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and various single southbound lanes between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. These closures accommodate concrete work and continue daily during these hours until Friday, June 24.

Various single lane closures on off peak hours at 16 Avenue N.W. and Sarcee Trail N.W. for interchange improvement work. These closures are expected to last until November 2016.

83 Street N.W. is closed between 33 Avenue N.W. and Bowfort Road N.W. until further notice. There will be no access to Bowness Road N.W. from 16 Avenue N.W. during this closure; use an alternate route.

Southeast

NEW: Barlow Trail S.E. between 50 Avenue S.E. and 61 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday, July 1 until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2 for C.P Rail replacement, paving repairs and concrete work. Local traffic will be detoured to 52 Street S.E. via 50 Avenue S.E. and 61 Avenue S.E. to bypass the construction. Alternate routes are recommended as delays are expected.

NEW: Northbound Bonaventure Drive S.E. is reduced to a single lane north of Lake Bonavista Drive S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, July 1. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 and accommodates road work.

NEW: 6 Avenue S.E. is reduced to two right at Centre Street S from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Southbound Centre Street is closed between 6 Avenue S.E. and 7 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. During this closure, northbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The left lane and left turn bays will be closed on northbound and southbound 52 Street S.E. at 23 Avenue S.E. and the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 8 for roadway construction.

NEW: 16A Street S.E. is closed between 38 Avenue S.E. and Ogden Road S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 4. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 and accommodates construction.

NEW: Various closures at the southwest corner of 17 Avenue S.E. at 31 Street S.E. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, July 4. This closure continues daily during these hours until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 and accommodates groundwater sampling.

NEW: Various single lane closures in both directions of 52 Street S.E. at Glenmore Trail S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, July 4. This closure continues daily during these hours through the week, and also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 9. This closure accommodates construction.

Westbound 26 Avenue S.E. is closed between Blackfoot Trail S.E. and 11 Street S.E. from 6 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. During this closure eastbound 26 Avenue will be reduced to a single lane in this stretch. This closure accommodates paving work.

Various lane closures at 5 Avenue S.E. and 1 Street S.E. from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. This closure accommodates utility work.

The right lane of both northbound and southbound 52 Street S.E. is closed at Glenmore Trail S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 27. This closure continues daily during these hours, and also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. This closure accommodates construction.

Starting at 7 a.m. Thursday, June 23 and continuing until the end of June, Dartmouth Road will be closed at 34 Avenue S.E. to allow for gas main upgrades. Traffic will be directed to use either Spiller Road or Macleod Trail to bypass the closure.

The right lane of southbound and northbound 52 Street S.E. is closed and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. at Glenmore Trail S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 20. This closure continues daily during these hours, and also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 and accommodates construction.

Westbound 17 Avenue S.E. is closed between Centre Street S and Macleod Trail S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 13. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 and accommodates Transportation Infrastructure work.

There will be various single lane closures on Glenmore Trail north of 52 Street S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Friday, April 15. This construction continues daily during these hours on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. These closures accommodate construction and continue until further notice.

15 Street S.E. is closed between 42 Street and 46 Street S.E. During this closure, business access will be maintained. This closure continues through 2016 and accommodates major water services work.

Zoo Road will be closed until December 2017 to accommodate the construction of the Zoo Flood mitigation project. The 12 Street S.E. bridge will remain open to local only traffic.

Blackfoot Trail / 58 Avenue S.E. Intersection Improvements Project

• NEW: There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 8.
• NEW: There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 9. Blackfoot Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/h, that will remain in effect 24/7 for duration of construction.
• There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 1.
• From now until late summer of 2016, there will be periodic lane closures and 50 km/h speed reductions at the intersection of Blackfoot Trail at 58 Avenue S.E. to allow for intersection improvements. Further information will follow as construction progresses. Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue Interchange project

• NEW: The left lane will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail south of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, July 4 to Friday July 8.
• NEW: The left lane will be closed on southbound Macleod Trail south of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on Monday, July 4 to Friday July 8.
• NEW: The left lane will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail north of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, July 4 to Friday July 8.
• NEW: The left lane will be closed on southbound Macleod Trail north of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on Monday, July 4 to Friday July 8.
• The left lane will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail south of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 1.
• The right lane will be closed on southbound Macleod Trail south of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily from Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 1.
• Starting the evening of Sunday, June 26, access to southbound Macleod Trail from the shopping Centre located north of 162 Avenue S.E. will close to accommodate the next phase of construction. Traffic will be required to exit the shopping Centre at the west entrance on Shawville Boulevard and connect to either 162 Avenue S.E. or Shawnessy Boulevard to access Macleod Trail.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

• NEW: Ogden Road, north of Glenmore Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 2 for utility work related to the Glenmore Trail / Ogden Road interchange project. Traffic will be directed to the east side of Ogden Road, to bypass construction.
• NEW: The left lane will be closed on eastbound Glenmore Trail east of Ogden Road / Shepard Road to allow for roadway repairs from 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 4 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.
• Construction continues at the Glenmore / Ogden Interchange. For information on this project, visit the Glenmore / Ogden Interchange website on Calgary.ca

Southwest

NEW: 2 Street S.W. is closed between 15 Avenue and 18 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, July 1. This closure remains in place until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 3 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of 9 Avenue S.W. is closed at 3 Street S.W. from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: 14 Street S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 17 Avenue S.W. and 19 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 2. This closure continues until 10 p.m. on Sunday, July 3 and accommodates construction.

NEW: Cyclists are reminded to dismount and walk their bikes along Stephen Avenue Mall from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through July 17 to accommodate higher volumes of pedestrian traffic during Stampede.

58 Avenue S.W. is closed between Centre Street S and 1A Street S.W. beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. This closure continues until 4 a.m. on Monday, July 4 and accommodates LRT track work.

10 Avenue S.W. is closed between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Monday, July 4 and accommodates construction.

10 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction west of 8 Street S.W. beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 20. This closure continues until 3 p.m. on Friday, August 26 and accommodates Transportation Infrastructure work.

Westbound 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 1 Street and 2 Street S.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 13. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 and accommodates Transportation Infrastructure work.

The right lane of southbound 8 Street S.W. between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. is closed beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24. During the closure, the west sidewalk on 8 Street S.W. in this stretch will be closed. This closure will continue through October 2016 and accommodates work on the 8 Street S.W. underpass project.

The right lane of northbound 4 Street S.W. is closed at 15 Avenue S.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, May 10. This closure continues daily during these hours until further notice and accommodates utility work.

Crowchild/Flanders Ave Interchange

• The northbound exit ramps from Crowchild Trail S.W. to Flanders Avenue S.W. are currently closed until late 2016. Motorists will be unable to access Flanders Avenue S.W. via northbound Crowchild Trail S.W. Motorists are advised to use 33 Avenue S.W. or 50 Avenue S.W. via Crowchild Trail as alternate routes.
• Caen Avenue (from the Currie Business Park entrance to Quesnay Wood Drive) is closed to allow for the utility work necessary for the Interchange construction. This stretch of Caen Avenue will be closed until late 2016. A temporary off-ramp provides access into the Currie Business Park, from Crowchild Trail South to Battleford Avenue.
• Construction work has begun on Richard Road and eastbound Flanders Avenue. Traffic on Richard Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction (north and sound bound).

Special Events

Annual East Village Street Fair – Friday, July 1 – 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• 8 Avenue S.E. is closed between 4 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E.
• 6 Street S.E. is closed from 7 Avenue to 9 Avenue S.E.
• 5 Street S.E. is closed south of the traffic square to 8 Avenue S.E.

Canada Day 2016 - 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 1

• Parking will be restricted on Riverfront Avenue S.E. from 1 Street S.E. to Macleod Trail S.E. from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 2.

The following closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. on Friday, July 1 to 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 2:

• Riverfront Avenue will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and the Langevin Bridge
• 2 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and Riverfront Avenue.
• 1 Street S.E. from between Riverfront Avenue S.E. to 3 Avenue S.E.
• Lower deck of the Centre Street Bridge
• Single left lane of southbound 1 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue and 8 Avenue is closed
• Single left lane of Northbound Macleod Trail S.E. between 7 Avenue and 8 Avenue is closed

The following closures will be in effect from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 1 to 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 2:

• Samis Road N.E. from Centre Street N to 1 Street N.E.
• Memorial Drive between 10 Street N.W. and Edmonton Trail (with the exception of one community access lane between 3 Street N.W. and 4 Street N.W.
• Upper deck of Centre Street Bridge
• Centre Street from 3 Avenue S to 8 Avenue N
• Various streets in Crescent Heights will be restricted to resident only including: Crescent Road at 3 Street N.W., 1 Street N.W. at 9 Avenue, 2 Street N.E. at 8 Avenue, 6 Avenue N.E. at Edmonton Trail.
• Parking will be restricted on the south side of 8 Avenue N.E. between Centre Street and Edmonton Trail.

Calgarians are encouraged to walk, bike or take transit to the downtown area on Canada Day.

Soundtown Experience Canada Day – Friday, July 1 – 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• 8 Avenue S.E. between Centre Street and 1 Street S.E. is closed.

Chinatown Canada Day Celebration – Friday, July 1 – 6 a.m. to Saturday, July 2 – 2 a.m.

• 2 Avenue S.W. east of 2 Street S.W. is closed.
