Calgary road closures – June 26, 2017

Northeast

UPDATE: Road closure on northbound Barlow Trail N.E. between Stonehill Gate N.E. and 116 Avenue N.E. on Tuesday, June 27 from 7 a.m. to Tuesday, July 4 at 6 p.m. Northbound traffic will be directed to the west side for 2 way traffic. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

UPDATE: Reduced northbound and southbound lanes on Falconridge Boulevard N.E. at Taradale Drive N.E. weekdays only from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 P.M. beginning on Tuesday, June 27 to Thursday, September 7. Pedestrian detour indicated via signage. This closure is to accommodate transit construction work.

NEW: Road closure on McDougall Road N.E. east of 6 Street N.E. on Monday, June 26 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27. Closure is to accommodate construction.

NEW: Various lane closures on Airport Trail N.E. within the Airport Tunnel beginning on Tuesday, June 27 to Wednesday, June 28 daily from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Closure is to accommodate fan and light inspections.

NEW: Various lane closures at Harvest Hills Boulevard N. and Country Hills Boulevard N.E. beginning on Saturday, July 1 from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Sunday, July 2 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and finally on Monday, July 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is going to create a lot of congestion and impact traffic in the surrounding area. Closures are to accommodate road work.

Reduced lane northbound and southbound on Rundlehorn Drive N.E. at 36 Street N.E. beginning on Saturday, June 24 to Saturday, July 1 on Saturdays only from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The existing bus stop will be temporarily moved further east to accommodate the construction at this closure.

Road closure on Saddlebrook Drive N.E. between Saddlestone Drive N.E. and Saddlemont Boulevard N.E. beginning on Monday, June 26 at 7 a.m. to Tuesday, June 27 at 4 p.m. Traffic circle will be open with vehicle detour indicated via signage and restricted pedestrian access. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced lanes northbound and southbound on 32 Street N.E. between Sunridge Boulevard N.E. and 23 Avenue N.E. from Monday, June 26 to Thursday, June 29 daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pedestrian detour indicated via signage with bus stop relocated further from construction site. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Road closure on Regal Crescent N.E. from 6 Street N.E. to 7 Street N.E. with reduced lane on 7 Street N.E. between 13 Avenue N.E. and Regal Crescent N.E. beginning on Monday, June 19 at 7 a.m. to Monday, July 3 at 5 a.m. Vehicle detours indicated via signage. Closure is to accommodate major utility work.

Reduced westbound lane on 32 Avenue N.E. between 23 Street N.E. and 19 Street NE beginning on Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 30 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and Saturdays, June 24 and July 1 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced westbound left lane on McKnight Boulevard N.E. approaching Barlow Trail N.E. beginning on Thursday, June 15 to Friday, June 30 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Speeds will be reduced to 50km/h approaching the closure. Closure is to accommodate construction work.

Northwest

UPDATE: Various reduced lanes southbound on Sarcee Trail N.W. at Stoney Trail N.W. and on the westbound on-ramp from Stoney Trail N.W. to Sarcee Trail N.W. beginning on Monday, July 3 at 9 p.m. to Thursday, July 6 at 6 a.m. Speeds reduced to 50 km/h through work area. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced lanes on westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of 14 Street N.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this closure, the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr. through the construction zone. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Monday, July 17 (Please note that this setup will NOT be required for Monday, July 3). Closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced lane westbound on 16 Avenue N.W. between Bowfort Road N.W. and Stoney Trail N.W. beginning on Monday, June 26 to Saturday, July 1 daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closure to accommodate construction.

Reduced lane westbound on 16 Avenue N.W. west of Sarcee Trail N.W. beginning on Monday, June 26 to Wednesday, June 28 daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Speeds reduced to 50 km/h through work area. Closure is to accommodate construction.

16 Avenue NW / Home Road project

  • Reduced lane on westbound 16 Avenue N.W. between 49 Street N.W. and 46 Street N.W. on weekdays daily from 9 a.m. on Monday, June 19 to 3 p.m. on Monday, July 3 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Business access is to be maintained. Closure is to accommodate construction.
  • Right lane closed on westbound 16 Avenue N.W from 49 Street to 46 Street N.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays beginning Tuesday, June 20. This closure also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and continues until early July.
  • Right lane closed on eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. from 49 Street to Home Road N.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays beginning Tuesday, June 20. This closure also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and continues until Tuesday, June 27.

16 Avenue N.W. at 29 Street N.W. / Uxbridge Drive N.W. will see various lane closures until the end of October, 2017 as part of an intersection improvement project.

16 Ave NW / Bowfort Road Interchange Improvements

  • Starting at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, the temporary access into Canada Olympic Park will be closed, and a new permanent access point into this area will open. This area will have police onsite to help direct traffic, motorists are advised to expect delays and watch their speed in the area.
  • Daily lane reductions on Bowfort Road N.W. and 16 Avenue N.W. through the project limits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice. For more information on this project, visit the project page.

Stoney Trail/ Sarcee Trail Interchange Improvements

Southeast

Reduced lane northbound on Macleod Trail S.E. just north of Canyon Meadows Drive S.E. beginning on Monday, June 26 to Wednesday, June 28 daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Speeds reduced to 60 km/h through work area. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced lane westbound on Anderson Road S.E. just west of Acadia Drive S.E. beginning on Monday, June 26 to Wednesday, June 28 daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Speeds reduced to 60 km/h through work area. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced lanes northbound and southbound on 36 Street S.E. at 17 Avenue S.E. and eastbound on 17 avenue S.E. at 36 Street S.E. beginning on Monday, June 26 to Wednesday, June 28 daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Road closure southbound on 3 Street S.E. between 6 Avenue S.E. and 7 Avenue S.E. with reduced northbound lanes beginning on Tuesday, June 20 at 12:00 a.m. until Friday, September 1 at 6 p.m. Vehicle and pedestrian detours indicated via signage. This closure accommodates construction.

Reduced lanes southbound on 52 Street S.E. at Copperfield Gate S.E. beginning on Tuesday, June 20 to Tuesday, July 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Speeds reduced to 50 km/h through work area. This closure accommodates road construction.

Road closure with left turn restrictions on Centre Street S.E. at 17 Avenue S.E. to 15 Avenue S.E. from Monday, June 19 at 7 a.m. to Saturday, July 1 at 7 p.m. Closure to accommodate construction.

17 Ave S.E. BRT Project

Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue Interchange Project

210 Avenue S.E. between Sheriff King Street and MacLeod Trail S.E. will be closed until Monday, July 31. This closure accommodates utility work. Please use alternate routes.

Southbound 3 Street S.E. between 6 Avenue and 8 Avenue S.E. will be closed until early July. Access to Lot 47 will be available at all times and can only be accessed from 9 Avenue S.E. Please use alternate routes and expect delays. This closure accommodates the 3 Street corridor improvement project.

Southwest

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

  • Reduced lanes on 17 Avenue S.W. between 8 Street and 9 Street S.W. beginning on Wednesday, May 24 until Friday, June 30 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This closure accommodates sidewalk removal and installation.
  • 17 Avenue will be closed to traffic between Macleod Trail and Centre Street starting May 19. For more information on the 17 Avenue construction schedule visit Calgary.ca/17Avenue.
  • 17 Avenue S.W. is closed between Macleod Trail S.E. and 1 Street S.E. During this closure, local business access will be maintained. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 19.

Alberta Transportation

Southwest Ring Road Project

Canada Day 150

  • 8 Avenue between 1 Street S.E. and Macleod Trail S.E. is closed between 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 3.
  • Memorial Drive is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 3 Street N.W. and 4 Street N.E. (Edmonton Trail) from 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 to 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 2.
  • Macleod Trail S.E. is closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 6 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 1
  • Reduced lanes on 1 Street S.E. from 7 Avenue to 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 3

    • 3rd Street cul-de-sac South of Riverfront Avenue (with the exception of a community access lane)
    • Centre Street Bridge - upper and lower decks and sidewalks from 8th Avenue N to 3rd Avenue S
    • Memorial Drive will have lane restrictions in both directions under the Centre Street Bridge
    • Various parking bans will be in place to support vehicle and pedestrian access

Evening Closures

  • July 1 at 6 p.m. - July 2nd at 3 a.m.- evening road closures in effect.
    • Memorial Drive is closed from 10th Street NW to 4 Street N.E.
    • Various streets in the Crescent Heights Community will be restricted to residents only
    • Community Resident Access Points are:- Crescent Road at 3rd Street NW Crescent Road at 3rd Street NW- 2nd Street at 8th Avenue NE- 1st Street at 9th Avenue NW- 6th Avenue at Edmonton Trail NE
