Calgary road closures - June 19, 2014
Northeast
NEW: The right lane on westbound Memorial Drive will be closed at 12 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 20 due to sign installation.
17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. will be closed at Edmonton Trail from 5 a.m. on Friday, May 16 until June due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.
Northwest
NEW: Eastbound 64 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane between 4 Street N.W. and Tegillus Street N.W. from 9 a.m. on Friday, June 20 to 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 due to utility work.
Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for further information.
Southeast
NEW: There will be various lane closures Macleod Trail at 210 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Friday, June 20 to Monday, June 30 due to construction related to intersection upgrades. Speed is reduced to 60 km/h in the area.
Blackfoot Bridge rehabilitation project
- NEW: Eastbound Glenmore Trail will be reduced to one lane at Blackfoot Trail from 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20 to 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 21. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h
- Blackfoot Trail will be reduced to two lanes in each direction over Glenmore Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Thursday, June 19 and Friday, 20 June and 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 to 5 a.m. Friday, June 20.
- The two right lanes on eastbound Glenmore Trail will be closed at Blackfoot Trail from 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 to 5 a.m. on Friday, June 20. At this time the speed will be reduced to 50 km/h
The exit ramp from southbound 52 Street S.E. to westbound Peigan Trail and the right lane on westbound Peigan Trail west of 52 Street S.E. will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 until Saturday, June 28 due to road construction related to the Peigan Trail extension project. Motorists are advised to watch for detour signs.
There will be various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. starting Monday, June 9 until the end of August. There will also be various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction. This work will stop during Stampede (July 4-13).
There will be construction on Sunmills Drive S.E. between Sun Valley Boulevard S.E. and Suncastle Drive S.E. starting mid June due to traffic calming measures being implemented in the area. Traffic should be minimally impacted but motorists are asked to be aware and cautious around crews working.
Southwest
NEW: 1 Street S.W. will be closed between 5 Avenue S.W. and 8 Avenue S.W. from 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 due to construction.
NEW: 6 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. from 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 due to construction. At this time only Calgary Transit and emergency vehicles will have access to the roadway.
NEW: 5 Street S.W. will be closed between 6 Avenue S.W. and 7 Avenue S.W. from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 20 to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 23 due to water main replacement.
NEW: The three left lanes on 6 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 4 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 20 to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 23 due to water main replacement.
NEW: The two left lanes will be closed on 5 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 20 due to building construction.
NEW: Richmond Road will be closed between 22 Street S.W. and Kerrydale Road S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 due to utility work. Motorists are advised to use either 26 Avenue S.W. or 46 Avenue S.W. to Sarcee Road.
Extended: 35 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 19 Street S.W. and 20 Street S.W. from 6 a.m. to midnight on Sunday, June 22 due to utility work.
Westbound Bow Trail will be reduced to one lane east of Crowchild Trail from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday until mid-July for noise barrier construction.
There will be various lane closures on Bow Trail between Sarcee Trail and 37 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends from Wednesday, June 18 to Wednesday, June 25. At this time the speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.
14 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 73 Street S.W. and 75 Street S.W. from Tuesday, June 17 to Saturday, June 21.
The sidewalk on the north side of 17 Avenue S.W. will be closed at 4 Street S.W. from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 due to sidewalk reconstruction.
14 Street SW closures
- All northbound lanes on 14 Street S.W. from 13 Avenue S.W. to 10 Avenue S.W. will be closed.
- One southbound lane from 10 Avenue S.W. to 17 Avenue S.W. will be open beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 8 until the end of the month.
- 11 Avenue S.W., 12 Avenue S.W. and 13 Avenue S.W. will be open.
- Turning restrictions will be in place including no right turn access on 11 Avenue S.W. and no left turn access on 12 Avenue S.W.
- There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between 6 Avenue S.W. and 38 Avenue S.W. from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Work will be ongoing until late-summer. Visit Calgary.ca for more information.
5 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to two lanes between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. from 9:30 a.m. until mid-July due to water main replacement.
5 Street S.W. will be reduced to three lanes between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. from 9:30 a.m. until mid-July due to water main replacement.
There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.
Two left lanes on 4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 3 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. during peak hours. During off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) three left lanes will be closed. The first phase of this project is expected to last until mid-June.
2 Avenue S.W. is closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. until Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

- Left turns will be restricted on 11 Avenue S.W. west of 5 Street S.W. from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily throughout festival. At this time parking will also be restricted in this area.
- The right lane on 10 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily throughout the festival.
- The right lane on 10 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 6 Street S.W. and 7 Street S.W. from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the festival.
Friday, June 20
- Parking will be restricted on Macleod Trail between 7 Avenue S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E. from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
