Calgary road closures - June 13, 2014
Northeast
17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. will be closed at Edmonton Trail from 5 a.m. on Friday, May 16 until June due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.
Northwest
NEW: Kensington Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 17 Street N.W. and 18 Street N.W. from 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 due to utility work.
12 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 2 Street N.W. and 3 Street N.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, June 13 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 due to utility work.
Beginning June 16, 2014, Symons Valley Road will be completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for further information.
Southeast
NEW: The exit ramp from southbound 52 Street S.E. to westbound Peigan Trail and the right lane on westbound Peigan Trail west of 52 Street S.E. will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 until Saturday, June 28 due to road construction related to the Peigan Trail extension project. Motorists are advised to watch for detour signs.
NEW: Blackfoot Bridge rehabilitation project
- The left lane on northbound Blackfoot Trail will be closed at the bridge over Glenmore Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June.
- The two right lanes on eastbound Glenmore Trail will be closed at Blackfoot Trail from 9 p.m. on Monday, June 16 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.
NEW: Blackfoot Trail will be reduced to two lanes north of 42 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 16 due to construction.
There will be various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. starting Monday, June 9 until the end of August. There will also be various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction. This work will stop during Stampede (July 4-13).
There will be various lane closures on 9 Street S.E. at 32 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Monday, June 2 to Monday, June 16 due to utility work.
There will be construction on Sunmills Drive S.E. between Sun Valley Boulevard S.E. and Suncastle Drive S.E. starting mid June due to traffic calming measures being implemented in the area. Traffic should be minimally impacted but motorists are asked to be aware and cautious around crews working.
Southwest
NEW: There will be various lane closures on Glenmore Trail between 69 Street S.W. and 101 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15 due to spray patching.
NEW: 33 Street S.W./Spruce Drive S.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Bow Trail from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 due to crosswalk construction. At the same time left turns will be restricted from southbound Bow Trail onto 33 Street S.W.
NEW: Bow Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 33 Street S.W./Spruce Drive S.W. from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 due to crosswalk construction. At the same time left turns will be restricted from Spruce Drive S.W. onto Bow Trail and left turns will be restricted on Bow Trail.
NEW: 35 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 19 Street S.W. and 20 Street S.W. from 6 a.m. to midnight on Friday, June 13 due to utility work.
NEW: Bow Trail will be reduced to one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes between 37 Street S.W. and 45 Street S.W. from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14 due to road construction. Traffic will be directed to the north side of Bow Trail as crews will be working in the eastbound lanes. Calgary Police Service will be on site to assist with traffic control.
14 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 73 Street S.W. and 75 Street S.W. from Tuesday, June 17 to Saturday, June 21.
16 Street S.W. will be closed between 42 Avenue S.W. and 44 Avenue S.W. from 6 p.m. on Friday, June 13 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 due to utility work.
5 Street S.W. will be closed between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. from 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13 to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16 due to water main replacement. Motorists are advised to use 3 Street S.W. or 7 Street S.W.
6 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to two lanes at 5 Street S.W. from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 13 to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16 due to water main replacement.
The sidewalk on the north side of 17 Avenue S.W. will be closed at 4 Street S.W. from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 due to sidewalk reconstruction.
14 Street SW closures
- NEW: 12 Avenue S.W. will be closed at 14 Street S.W. starting Saturday, June 14.
- NEW: 11 Avenue S.W. will be closed at 14 Street S.W. starting Sunday, June 15.
- All northbound lanes on 14 Street S.W. from 13 Avenue S.W. to 10 Avenue S.W. will be closed.
- One southbound lane from 10 Avenue S.W. to 17 Avenue S.W. will be open beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 8 until the end of the month.
- 11 Avenue S.W., 12 Avenue S.W. and 13 Avenue S.W. will be open.
- Turning restrictions will be in place including no right turn access on 11 Avenue S.W. and no left turn access on 12 Avenue S.W.
- There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between 6 Avenue S.W. and 38 Avenue S.W. from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Work will be ongoing until late-summer. Visit Calgary.ca for more information.
5 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to two lanes between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. from 9:30 a.m. until mid-July due to water main replacement.
5 Street S.W. will be reduced to three lanes between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. from 9:30 a.m. until mid-July due to water main replacement.
The left lane on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Thursday, June 5 to Monday, June 16 due to building construction.
The right lane on eastbound Glenmore Trail will be closed over the Graves Bridge until Wednesday, June 18 due to emergency pathway repair. At this time the speed will be reduced to 60 km/h.
There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.
Two left lanes on 4 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 3 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. during peak hours. During off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) three left lanes will be closed. The first phase of this project is expected to last until mid-June.
2 Avenue S.W. is closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. until Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

Motorists are advised to watch for cyclists in the area. Calgary Police Service will be present in the area.

- Crowchild Trail S.W. from 66 Avenue S.W. to North Glenmore Park entrance.
