Calgary road closures - July 31, 2014
Northeast
NEW: There will be various lane closures on 36 Street N.E. between 16 Avenue N.E. and 32 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning Friday, August 1 until Tuesday, September 5 due to curb rehabilitation and paving.
NEW: 20 Avenue N.E. will be closed at Edmonton Trail from Friday, August 1 to Saturday, August 9 due to work related to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project. Traffic will be detoured to 19 Avenue N.E. Local traffic will be maintained from the east.
NEW: 24 Avenue N.E. will be closed at Edmonton trail from Tuesday, August 5 to Thursday, August 14 due to work related to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project. Traffic will be detoured to 23 Avenue N.E. Local traffic will be maintained from the east.
The intersection of Skyview Ranch Road and 128 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Monday, July 28 until September 30 for utility work.
17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. are closed at Edmonton Trail until late August due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.
Northwest
Memorial Drive Paving
- NEW: Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 2 due to road work.
- NEW: Westbound Memorial Drive will be closed between 19 Street N.W. and Kensington Road from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 due to road work. Westbound vehicles will be detoured onto northbound 19 Street N.W. and westbound Kensington Road.
- Major delays are expected. Motorists are advised to use 16 Avenue N.W. as an alternative route.
NEW: Eastbound Memorial Drive beside the Zoo station will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 due to the Zoo station extension project.
NEW: The left lane on westbound Memorial Drive will be closed beside the Zoo station from 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 2 to 5 a.m. on August 5 due to the Zoo station extension project.
NEW: The right lane on eastbound 2 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 15 Avenue N.W. and 16 Avenue N.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 due to utility work.
Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly until Sunday, August 31 due to bridge deck repairs.
The right lanes on north and southbound Northland Drive N.W. will be closed throughout the summer due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.
Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for further information.
Southeast
NEW: The left lane on 1 Street S.E. will be closed at 13 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, August 1 due to utility work.
NEW: The right lane will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail S.E. between 12 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.E. starting Friday, August 1 at 7 p.m. until Monday, August 2 at 6 p.m. for CTrain track repairs.
NEW: Glenmore Trail will be reduced to two lanes in each direction east of Blackfoot Trail from 9 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 for road construction. At this time speed will be reduced to 60 km/h.
NEW: Glenmore Trail will be reduced to two lanes in each direction east of Blackfoot Trail from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from Tuesday, August 5 to Thursday, August due to road work.
Glenmore Trail will be reduced to two lanes in each direction east of Blackfoot Trail from 9 p.m. Thursday, July 31 to 5 a.m. Friday, August 1 for road construction. At this time speed will be reduced to 60 km/h.
There will be various lane closures on 114 Avenue S.E. between 64 Street and Stoney Trail S.E. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily starting Saturday, July 26 until Friday, August 1 (except Sunday) for paving preparation. Speed will be reduced to 50 km/h during this time.
Southbound 4 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. on Monday, July 28 until 3 p.m. on Friday, August 1 for construction.
Westbound 130 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and Copperpond Boulevard S.E. until Thursday, September 11 due to major utility work. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 50 km/h. Residents are advised to use McIvor Boulevard S.E. to 52 Street S.E.
5 Street S.E. will be closed between 8 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. until August 17 for East Village construction.
There are various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. until the end of August. There are also various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction.
Southwest
NEW: Centre Street will be closed between 6 Avenue and 8 Avenue from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 due to LRT track work.
NEW: The left lane on 1 Street S.E. will be closed between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 due to LRT track work.
- NEW: There will be various lane closures on Bow Trail between 37 S Treet S.W. and the pedestrian bridge due to road work. Major delays are expected. Police will be on site directing traffic. Motorists are advised to use 17 Avenue S.W. as an alternative route.
There will be various lane closures on westbound Glenmore Trail between Crowchild Trail and Richard Road S.W. from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. nightly from Tuesday, July 29 to Friday, August 1 due to road maintenance.
The two centre lanes on 5 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and Centre Street will be closed until Sunday, August 17 due to utility work.
There will be various lane closures on Bow Trail between Sarcee Trail and 37 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from Monday, July 28 until Friday, August 1 for paving and road reconstruction. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.
The speed will be reduced to 50 km/h on southbound Ogden Road at 50 Avenue S.E. while crews work on flood recovery work. This work will be ongoing until August 14. Watch for flagmen.
- Southbound 14 Street S.W. will be closed between 10 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. until Sunday, September 7 due to road resurfacing. Two-way traffic will be allowed in the northbound lanes at this time.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
Special Events

- 9 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 11 Street S.E. and 14 Street S.E.
- 12 Street S.E. will be closed between 8 Avenue S.E. and 10 Avenue S.E.
