Calgary road closures - July 29, 2014

Northeast

The intersection of Skyview Ranch Road and 128 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Monday, July 28 until September 30 for utility work.

There will be various single lane closures at the intersection of Metis Trial at 80 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily starting Monday, July 28 until Wednesday, July 30 for roadwork.

17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. are closed at Edmonton Trail until late August due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.

Northwest

NEW: There will be various lane closures on Memorial Drive between 14 Street N.W. and Centre Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Wednesday, July 30 and Thursday, July 31 due to maintenance.

Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly until Sunday, August 31 due to bridge deck repairs.

The right lanes on north and southbound Northland Drive N.W. will be closed throughout the summer due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.

Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for  further information.

Southeast

There will be various lane closures on 114 Avenue S.E. between 64 Street and Stoney Trail S.E. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily starting Saturday, July 26 until Friday, August 1 (except Sunday) for paving preparation. Speed will be reduced to 50 km/h during this time.

Southbound 4 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. on Monday, July 28 until 3 p.m. on Friday, August 1 for construction.

Westbound 130 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and Copperpond Boulevard S.E. until Thursday, September 11 due to major utility work. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 50 km/h. Residents are advised to use McIvor Boulevard S.E. to 52 Street S.E.

5 Street S.E. will be closed between 8 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. until August 17 for East Village construction.

There are various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. until the end of August. There are also various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction.

Southwest

NEW: 33 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 14 Street S.W. and 15 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Wednesday, July 30 and Thursday, July 31 due to utility work.

NEW: The right lane on westbound 17 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 10 Street S.W. and 11 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 due to sign installation. At the same time parking will be restricted and the sidewalk will be closed.

NEW: There will be various lane closures on westbound Glenmore Trail between Crowchild Trail and Richard Road S.W. from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. nightly from Tuesday, July 29 to Wednesday, July 30 due to road maintenance.

Update: 5 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to two lanes between 1 Street S.W. and Centre Street will be closed until Wednesday, July 29 due to utility work. Expect major delays. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

There will be various lane closures on Bow Trail between Sarcee Trail and 37 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from Monday, July 28 until Friday, August 1 for paving and road reconstruction. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.

The right lane on southbound Elbow Drive S.W. will be closed north of Windsor Crescent S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30 due to building construction. At the same time the right lane on westbound Windsor Crescent S.W. will be closed.

2 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 5 Street and 6 Street S.W. from Monday, July 29 to Thursday, July 31 for utility work.

The speed will be reduced to 50 km/h on southbound Ogden Road at 50 Avenue S.E. while crews work on flood recovery work.  This work will be ongoing until August 14. Watch for flagmen.

14 Street SW closures

  • Southbound 14 Street S.W. will be closed between 10 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. until Sunday, September 7 due to road resurfacing.  Two-way traffic will be allowed in the northbound lanes at this time.

There will be various lane closures on 14 Street S.W. between Heritage Drive and Anderson Road until August for operational improvements. More information is available on the website.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

Special Events

Inglewood Sun Fest

Saturday, August 2 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • 9 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 11 Street S.E. and 14 Street S.E.
  • 12 Street S.E. will be closed between 8 Avenue S.E. and 10 Avenue S.E.
  • 13 Street will be closed between 8 Avenue S.E. and 10 Avenue S.E.

Please obey all temporary traffic controls. Police will be on-site to monitor traffic.

Tour De Bowness

Monday, August 4 from 5 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Bowness Road will be closed between 62 Street N.W. and 66 Street N.W.
  • 63 Street N.W. will be closed between Bowness Road and Bowwood Drive N.W.
  • 64 Street N.W. will be closed between Bowness Road and Bowwood Drive N.W.
  • 65 Street N.W. will be closed between Bowness Road and Bowwood Drive N.W.
  • 66 Street N.W. will be closed between Bowness Road and Bowwood Drive N.W.
  • 36 Avenue N.W. will be closed between Bow Anne Road and Bowwood Drive N.W.
  • Bow Anne Road will be closed between 36 Avenue N.W. and 66 Street N.W.

Bowness Heritage Day Street Festival

Monday, August 4 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Bowness Road will be closed between 62 Street N.W. and 64 Street N.W.
  • 63 Street N.W. will be closed between Bowness Road and Bowwood Drive N.W.
  • Bowwood Drive N.W. will be closed between 63 Street N.W. and 64 Street N.W.
