Unplanned Work

NEW: Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to a single lane at 46 Street N.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, January 27 for emergency water utility work. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays in the area. This closure is expected to continue until 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 29.

Northeast

NEW: Southbound Centre Street N is reduced to a single lane at 31 Avenue N.E. from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 27 for utility work.

NEW: 26 Avenue N.E. is closed between 36 Street N.E. and Rundleson Road N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 28. This closure remains in place until 10 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 and accommodates utility work. Motorists will be detoured to 25 Avenue N.E. via signage.

NEW: 41 Avenue N.E. is closed between Edmonton Trail N.E. and 1 Street N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 28. This closure remains in place until 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 and accommodates utility installation.

NEW: Various single lane closures in all directions at Country Hills Boulevard N.E. and 25 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, January 30. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1 and accommodates utility work.

Northwest

NEW: Eastbound Panatella Boulevard N.W. is closed at Harvest Hills Boulevard N.W. and a two-way traffic is in place in the westbound lanes beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 27. This closure continues until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 and accommodate water services utility work.

NEW: The right lane of westbound 16 Avenue N.W. is closed at 10 Street N.W. from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, January 27.

NEW: 5 Avenue N.W. is closed between 22 Street and 23 Street N.W. beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 27. This closure remains in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, January 30 and accommodate utility installation.

NEW: Bowness Road N.W. is closed between 44 Street and 45 Street N.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 28. This closure will remain in place until 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 and accommodates utility work. Traffic will be detoured via signage, use alternate routes.

Southeast

NEW: 3 Street S.E. is closed between 6 Avenue and 8 Avenue S.E. from 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 26 to 6 a.m. on Friday, January 27 for construction.

NEW: Shawville Boulevard S.E. is reduced to single lane traffic in each direction south of 162 Avenue S.E. beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 27. This closure remains in place until 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 29.

NEW: 6 Avenue S.E. is closed between 3 Street and 4 Street S.E. beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 27. This closure accommodates crane work and continues until 10 p.m. on Sunday, January 29.

NEW: The right lane of 32 Avenue N.E. is closed at 12 Street N.E. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. through the closure from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, January 30. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1 and accommodates utility work.

Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue Interchange project

  • The two left lanes will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail at 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 9 p.m. Thursday, January 26 until 5 a.m. Friday, January 27.
  • The two right lanes will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail at 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday, January 27 until 5 a.m. Saturday, January 28.
  • There will be various lane closures on southbound Macleod Trail between Shawnessy Boulevard / Midlake Boulevard and 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, January 23 until Friday, January 27.
  • There will be various lane closures on northbound Macleod Trail between 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard and Shawnessy Boulevard / Midlake Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on Monday, January 23 until Friday, January 27.
  • The two left lanes will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail at 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. nightly Thursday, January 26 and Friday January, 27.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • The Shepard Road access south of Glenmore is closed. There will be a new access created at 24 Street S.E. south of Glenmore Trail, west of the existing Shepard Road alignment. Traffic requiring to access Shepard Road south of Glenmore Trial will be detoured via the new 24 Street S.E. exit and then along 86 Avenue S.E. to reconnect with Shepard Road. There will be limited business access north of 86 Avenue S.E. on Shepard Road after detour in place. In addition, the eastbound lanes on Glenmore Trail will be re-aligned into the next stage of construction. The eastbound and westbound lanes will be separated with two new intersections created. Ogden Road will have some alignment shifts north of Glenmore Trail to accommodate these traffic changes.

Southwest

NEW: The right lane and adjacent cycle track are closed on 5 Street S.W. between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, January 27. During this closure, cycle track traffic will be diverted into the closed traffic lane. This closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: The left lane of 12 Avenue S.W. is closed between 1 Street S.W. and 4 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 28 and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: The left lane and adjacent cycle track on 12 Avenue S.W. is closed between 2 Street S.W. and 4 Street S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 30. During this closure, cycle track traffic will be diverted to the closed traffic lane. This closure remains in place until 3 p.m. on Friday, February 3 and accommodates utility work.

The right lane of northbound 8 Street S.W. is closed from 8 Avenue to 10 Avenue S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 23. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 5 and accommodates construction.

The right lane and adjacent cycle track on 5 Street S.W. between 7 Avenue and 8 Avenue S.W. is closed daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, January 11. Cycle track traffic will be diverted to the closed traffic lane. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Friday, March 10 and accommodates utility work.

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

  • NEW: Reduced lanes on 1 Street S.E. at 17 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, January 27. During this closure, 17 Avenue S.E. is also reduced to a single lane in each direction at 1 Street S.E.
  • NEW: 1 Street S.E. is reduced to a single lane at 17 Avenue S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 28. During this closure, 17 Avenue S.E. is also reduced to a single lane in each direction at 1 Street S.E. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 29.
  • 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Centre Street South and 1 Street S.E. through 7 p.m. on Friday, February 3.
  • 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 5 Street and 6 Street S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4. This closure is expected to continue until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25.

Chinese New Year – Year of the Rooster - Saturday, January 28

  • 1 Street S.W. b/w Riverfront Ave and 3 Avenue S.W. is closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • 2 Avenue S.W. is closed between 1 Street S.W. and Centre Street from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
