Calgary road closures - February 4, 2015
ALERT: Elbow Drive S.W. at Springwood Drive S.W. is reduced to a single northbound lane due to water main break. This closure is expected to last until at least 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5. Southbound drivers are advised to use 14th Street S.W. or Haddon Road S.W. via Heritage Dr S.W. As a result of this closure, expect delays during your commute.
Northeast
Airport Trail N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Barlow Trail and 36 Street N.E. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily starting Monday, February 2 until Thursday, February 5 due to construction.
Northwest
Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of February due to utility work.
Southeast
NEW: Northbound Heritage Drive S.E. / 15 Street S.E. beneath Glenmore Trail will have be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, February 5. This closure is needed to accommodate work related to the water main upgrade project at the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail S.E.
3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the middle of March 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.
4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.
Single lane closures will continue on Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE until the end of February, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.
The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015.
Southwest
NEW: Southbound lanes on Elbow Drive S.W. at Springwood Drive S.W. are closed due to water main break. Single lane traffic for northbound and southbound lanes is in effect while repairs take place.
Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.
