Calgary road closures - February 27, 2015

Northeast

NEW: The right lane will be closed on eastbound 64 Avenue N.E. at 9 Street N.E. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 2. This closure will continue through the week until Friday, March 6 and will accommodate utility repairs.

NEW: The left lane on westbound 16 Avenue N.E. at Center Street will be reduced between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, March 2. The closure will continue through the week until Friday, March 6 and will accommodate utility repairs.

NEW: The right lane of Eastbound McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 19 Street N.E. and Barlow Trail N.E. will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, March 2. The closure will accommodate utility work.

NEW: 27 Street N.E. south of 32 Avenue N.E. is closed beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 2. The closure will remain in place until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 and accommodates water utility work.

Update: The right lane of McKnight Boulevard N.E. at 12 Street N.E. will be closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 28. This closure will accommodate utility locates.

Update: Whitefield Drive N.E. is closed between Whiteram Hill N.E. and Whiteram Gate N.E. for emergency water service repair. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route. The closure is expected to remain in place until 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 28.

The left lane on northbound Metis Trail N.E. will be closed at 128 Avenue N.E. beginning Friday, February 27 and continuing until Thursday, March 5. This closure will be in place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, except on Saturdays when restrictions will be in place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This closure will accommodate utility work.

Northwest

NEW: Eastbound Crowchild Trail N.W. at 32 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday, February 27. This closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Saturday, February 28 and will accommodate LRT work.

Westbound Kensington Road N.W. between 10 Street N.W. and 10A Street N.W. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 27. One eastbound lane will also be closed, and only a single lane of eastbound traffic will be permitted to travel through this area during the closure. The closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 and will accommodate utility work.

Eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane east of Sarcee Trail N.W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on weekdays until the end of March due to utility work.

Southeast

NEW: 30 Street S.E. between Glenmore Trail S.E. and 80 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 to allow for utility work. Traffic will be detoured to 31 Street S.E. and to 72 Avenue S.E. via Barlow Trail S.E. to bypass construction. Limited access to northbound 30 Street S.E. from eastbound Glenmore Trail S.E. will be provided by flagman personnel.

NEW: 3 Avenue S.W. between 2 Street S.W. and 3 Street S.W. is closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, February 28. The closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 and will accommodate the construction of a new +15 walkway.

NEW: 4 Street S.W. between 3 Avenue S.W. and 4 Avenue S.W. is closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 28. The closure will remain in place until 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 and will accommodate the installation of structural steel for a new +15 walkway.

NEW: 4 Avenue S.W. between 3 Street S.W. and 4 Street S.W. will be reduced to two lanes beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, February 28. This closure will remain in place until 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 and will accommodate construction.

NEW: Southbound 1 Street S.E. will be reduced to two lanes between 11 Avenue S.E. and 18 Avenue S.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, February 28. This closure will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 and will accommodate Enmax utility work.

NEW: Westbound Avonburn Road S.E. will be closed at 86 Avenue S.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 2. Traffic will be detoured to Fairmount Drive to bypass construction, while local-only traffic will be directed to the south side of 86 Avenue S.E. at Avonburn Road S.E. The closure will remain in place until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 and will accommodate construction in the area.

9 Avenue S.E. east of 15 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 27. This reduction will remain in place until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 and will accommodate water utility repair.

3 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until the middle of March 2015. The sidewalk will also be closed during this time.

4 Street S.E. is reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. until the September 30. This closure is needed to facilitate the construction of the +60 pedestrian bridge at the National Music Centre.

Single lane closures will continue on Glenmore Trail west of 18 Street SE until the end of February, to allow for the City of Calgary’s Water Services’ water main upgrade project- under the Graves Bridge on Glenmore Trail over the Bow River. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h that will remain in effect 24/7 until project is completed.

The west sidewalk of 3 Street S.E. between 7 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. is closed for construction until February 2015.

Southwest

NEW: 5 Avenue S.W. between 9 Street S.W. and 10 Street S.W. is reduced to a single left lane beginning 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 28. The closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 and will accommodate the installation of a crane.

Update: Two right lanes and adjacent sidewalk of 4 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. will be closed beginning Saturday, February 28 at 7 a.m. This closure will remain in place until 3 p.m. and accommodates emergency ATCO repairs.

The stretch of 5A Street S.W between 1918 5A Street S.W. to 1924 5A Street S.W. will be closed on Thursday, February 26 and Friday, February 27 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to construction.

101 Street S.W. between Glenmore Trail S.W. and Old Banff Coach Road S.W. will be reduced to a single shared lane of controlled traffic, with the speed limit reduced to 50 km/hr, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends beginning Friday, February 20 until Sunday, March 1 due to utility work.

Southbound 1 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane between 9 Avenue S.W. and 10 Avenue S.W. starting Sunday, January 25 to accommodate the 1 Street S.W. underpass enhancement project. At the same time the sidewalk on southbound 1 Street S.W. will be closed. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the east side of 1 Street S.W. These closures will be in place until the work on the west side of the underpass is complete.
