Calgary road closures - December 6, 2013
Northwest
Eastbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at 53 Street N.W. from 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 to 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 8.
Westbound John Laurie Boulevard will be reduced to one lane between Hawkwood Hill N.W. and Hawkwood Drive N.W. on Sunday, December 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for utility work.
Southwest
21 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 4 Street S.W. and 5 Street S.W. on Saturday, December 7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for utility work
4 Street S.W. will be closed between 8 Avenue S.W. and 11 Avenue S.W. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, December 9 for utility work.
The two left lanes on southbound Crowchild Trail will be closed at 33 Avenue S.E. from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, December 8 for utility work. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h in this area.
Southbound 4 Street S.W. will have a right lane closure at 2 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from December 9 to December 13 due to utility work.
Southeast
Centre Street will be closed between 5 Avenue S.E. and 6 Avenue S.E. on Sunday December 8 from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. for utility work.
6 Ave S.E. will be closed between Centre Street S.E. and 1 Street S.E. on Sunday December 8 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for utility work.
Centre Street will be closed between 6 Avenue S.E. and 7 Avenue S.E. on Sunday December 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for utility work.
36 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Memorial Drive from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 for utility work. Westbound Memorial Drive will also have a lane reduction at this time.
Northbound 52 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane at Peigan Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, December 9 due to road construction related to the Peigan Trail extension. Please visit the project website for more information.
Northbound 52 Street S.E. will be reduced to one lane at 98 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, December 9 to Friday, December 13 due to utility work.
The speed limit on 53 Avenue S.E. at Blackfoot Trail will be reduced to 60 km/h from 6 a.m. on Monday, December 9 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10 due to construction on adjacent roadways. There will be various stages of construction along 53 Avenue S.E. between Blackfoot Trail and 2 Street S.E. during the months of December and January to allow for gas main upgrades. Efforts will be made to keep disruption of traffic on Blackfoot Trail to a minimum.
Special Events
CP Holiday Train
The CP Holiday train will be at Anderson CTrain Station on Saturday, December 7 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parking in the area will be limited and the Calgary Police Service will be on site directing traffic at Macleod Trail and 109 Avenue S.E. Please obey all posted Traffic Control restrictions in and around the Anderson Station lot.
27th Annual Lion’s Festival of Lights
14 Street N.W. between 24 Avenue N.W. and Rosehill Drive N.W. will have slow moving traffic nightly until Wednesday, January 8. Motorists should use extra care, be aware of pedestrians and reduce their speed in this area.
Calgary Interfaith Food Bank
Northbound 11 Street S.E. between 46 Avenue S.E. and Highfield Drive S.E. will be reduced by one lane from Monday, December 2 until Monday, December 23 to accommodate extra parking.
