Calgary road closures - August 1, 2014
Northeast
NEW: There will be various lane closures on 36 Street N.E. between 16 Avenue N.E. and 39 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5 due to concrete rehabilitation work.
There will be various lane closures on 36 Street N.E. between 16 Avenue N.E. and 32 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning Friday, August 1 until Tuesday, September 5 due to curb rehabilitation and paving.
20 Avenue N.E. will be closed at Edmonton Trail from Friday, August 1 to Saturday, August 9 due to work related to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project. Traffic will be detoured to 19 Avenue N.E. Local traffic will be maintained from the east.
24 Avenue N.E. will be closed at Edmonton trail from Tuesday, August 5 to Thursday, August 14 due to work related to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project. Traffic will be detoured to 23 Avenue N.E. Local traffic will be maintained from the east.
The intersection of Skyview Ranch Road and 128 Avenue N.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Monday, July 28 until September 30 for utility work.
17 Avenue N.E. and 18 Avenue N.E. are closed at Edmonton Trail until late August due to the Edmonton Trail road reconstruction project.
Northwest
NEW: Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane at Crowchild Trail from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 2 due to bridge work.
NEW: Westbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at Kensington Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 2 due to utility work.
NEW: There will be various lane closures on Memorial Drive between Centre Street and 14 Street N.W. from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5 and Wednesday, August 6 due to maintenance.
Memorial Drive Paving
- Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 2 due to road work.
- Westbound Memorial Drive will be closed between 19 Street N.W. and Kensington Road from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 due to road work. Westbound vehicles will be detoured onto northbound 19 Street N.W. and westbound Kensington Road.
- Major delays are expected. Motorists are advised to use 16 Avenue N.W. as an alternative route.
Eastbound Memorial Drive beside the Zoo station will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 due to the Zoo station extension project.
The left lane on westbound Memorial Drive will be closed beside the Zoo station from 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 2 to 5 a.m. on August 5 due to the Zoo station extension project.
The right lane on eastbound 2 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 15 Avenue N.W. and 16 Avenue N.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 due to utility work.
Northbound Crowchild Trail will be reduced to one lane at University Drive N.W. from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly until Sunday, August 31 due to bridge deck repairs.
The right lanes on north and southbound Northland Drive N.W. will be closed throughout the summer due to bike lane improvements and road repaving.
Symons Valley Road is completely closed between 144 Avenue N.W. and Sage Meadow Circle. This closure is expected to last until December 2014. During this time, all heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Shaganappi Trail, and local traffic will be detoured via Sage Hill Drive to 144 Avenue N.W. Visit the webpage for further information.
Southeast
NEW: 42 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 9 Street S.E. and 11 Street S.E. from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 4 due to utility work. Motorists are advised to use 44 Avenue S.E. as an alternative route.
Updated: Westbound 130 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and Copperpond Boulevard S.E. until Thursday, September 18 due to major utility work. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 50 km/h. Residents are advised to use McIvor Boulevard S.E. to 52 Street S.E.
The right lane will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail S.E. between 12 Avenue and 17 Avenue S.E. starting Friday, August 1 at 7 p.m. until Monday, August 2 at 6 p.m. for CTrain track repairs.
Glenmore Trail will be reduced to two lanes in each direction east of Blackfoot Trail from 9 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 for road construction. At this time speed will be reduced to 60 km/h.

5 Street S.E. will be closed between 8 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. until August 17 for East Village construction.
There are various lane closures on 9 Avenue S.E. between 3 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. until the end of August. There are also various closures on 6 Street S.E. between 9 Avenue and 6 Avenue S.E. for East Village construction.
Southwest
NEW: 4 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 20 Avenue S.W. and 21 Avenue S.W. from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 due to building construction. At the same time the sidewalk on the east side of the street will be closed and parking will be restricted.
NEW: 11 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. from 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 due to building construction.
NEW: There will be various lane closures on 17 Avenue S.W. between 14 Street S.W. and Crowchild Trail on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 due to isolate road construction.
- NEW: There will be various lane closures on Bow Trail between 37 S Treet S.W. and the pedestrian bridge on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 due to road work. Major delays are expected. Police will be on site directing traffic. Motorists are advised to use 17 Avenue S.W. as an alternative route.
NEW: The sidewalk on the west side of Centre Street will be closed between 6 Avenue and 7 Avenue from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, August 8 due to building construction. Local pedestrian access will be maintained.
Centre Street will be closed between 6 Avenue and 8 Avenue from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 due to LRT track work.
The left lane on 1 Street S.E. will be closed between 6 Avenue S.E. and 8 Avenue S.E. from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 due to LRT track work.
The two centre lanes on 5 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and Centre Street will be closed until Sunday, August 17 due to utility work.
There will be various lane closures on Bow Trail between Sarcee Trail and 37 Street S.W. from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from Monday, July 28 until Friday, August 1 for paving and road reconstruction. At this time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h.
The speed will be reduced to 50 km/h on southbound Ogden Road at 50 Avenue S.E. while crews work on flood recovery work. This work will be ongoing until August 14. Watch for flagmen.
- Southbound 14 Street S.W. will be closed between 10 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. until Sunday, September 7 due to road resurfacing. Two-way traffic will be allowed in the northbound lanes at this time.
The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.
