Calgary road closures - April 25, 2014

Northeast

Eastbound Memorial Drive will be reduced to one lane at 4 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Friday, April 25 to Saturday, May 31 due to construction.

Northwest

There will be various lane closures on eastbound Memorial Drive between Crowchild Trail and 16 Street N.W. until Thursday, May 15 due to riverbank restoration. On weekdays lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Southeast

NEW: 26 Street S.E. will be closed between 19 Avenue S.E. and 22 Avenue S.E. from 6 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 due to construction.

NEW: The right lane on southbound 52 Street S.E. between 68 Avenue S.E. and 72 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 to Sunday, May 11 due to utility work. At the same time speed will be reduced to 50 km/h. In addition 68 Avenue S.E. will be closed west of 52 Street S.E. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes like Barlow Trail.

2 Avenue S.E. will be closed between Centre Street and Riverfront Avenue until 3 p.m. on Sunday April 27 due to utility work.

Southwest

NEW: The two right lanes on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. from  5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 due to sidewalk repair.

4 Avenue S.W. is closed at 9 Street S.W. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 due to a water main break. Motorists are advised to use 6 Avenue S.W.

Heritage Drive will be closed at 14 Street S.W. from 9 p.m. on Friday, April 25 to 5 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 due to utility work. At the same time northbound 14 Street S.W. will be reduced to one lane and left hand turns from northbound and southbound 14 Street S.W. onto Heritage Drive will be restricted.

2 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. from Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m. until July 3 at 6 p.m.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

The right lane on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between Centre Street and 1 Street S.W. until Wednesday, April 30. During morning and evening peak hours this lane will be used for pedestrians while work is being done on the sidewalk.

Special Events

Calgary Highlanders 2013 St. Julien’s Parade starting - Saturday, April 26
Motorists should watch for Police escorting the parade from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the following areas:

  • Eastbound 8 Avenue will be impacted from 11 Street S.W. to Macleod Trail S.E. by a police escort of military parade.
  • Northbound Macleod Trail is closed from 6 Avenue S.E. to 9 Avenue S.E.
  • Westbound 8 Avenue will be impacted from 11 Street S.W. to Macleod Trail S.E. by a police escort of military parade.

King’s Own Calgary Regiment – St. George’s Day Parade - Sunday, April 27

  • Watch for military personnel being escorted by police on Southbound 11 Street S.W., between 8 Avenue S.W. and 15 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • There will be no parking on the south side 14 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Police Half Marathon and 5K Walk and Run – Sunday, April 27, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • The exit ramp from northbound Crowchild Trail to Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) will be closed.
  • Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Richard Road S.W. and 16 Street S.W.
  • Richard Road S.W. will be closed between Mount Royal Gate (50 Avenue S.W.) and Peace Keeper Way S.W.
  • 66 Avenue S.W. will have runners in the south curb lane between 37 Street S.W. and Crowchild Trail S.W.

Please be aware that there will be a significant police presence in the area during this event. Drivers are advised to use caution when near participants, organizers and volunteers.
