Calgary road closures - April 17, 2014

Northeast

The right lane on northbound 56 Street N.E. will be closed at 28 Avenue N.E. from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Wednesday, April 23 due to utility work.

Northwest

NEW: Northbound 14 Street N.W. will be closed at Kensington Road from 6 a.m. on Friday, April 18 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 due to water main repair work. At the same time Eastbound Kensington Road will be closed at 16 Street N.W.

There will be various lane closures on eastbound Memorial Drive between Crowchild Trail and 16 Street N.W. until Thursday, May 15 due to riverbank restoration. On weekdays lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Southeast

NEW: There will be various lane closures on Blackfoot Trail over Glenmore Trail from 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 to allow for work related to the Blackfoot Trail Bridge rehabilitation project. Alternate routes are recommended as major delays are expected.  The speed limit on Blackfoot Trail will remain at 50 km/h and the speed limit on Glenmore will remain at 60 km/h for the duration of construction. The exit ramp from westbound Glenmore Trail to southbound Blackfoot Trail will also remain closed.

NEW: 10 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Macleod Trail and 3 Street S.E. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Monday, April 14 to Friday, April 18 due to utility work. Work will continue on Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 22.

NEW: Southbound Barlow Trail will be reduced to one lane at 50 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 due to utility work.

Westbound Memorial Drive will be closed at Barlow Trail from 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 to 5 a.m. on Monday, April 21 due to LRT platform extension construction at Barlow/Max Bell station. Motorists are advised to follow detours.  At the same time 28 Street S.E. will be closed at Memorial Drive.

Eastbound 17 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane at Deerfoot Trail from 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 17 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23 due to construction. This closure will not be in effect on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20.

50 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction east of 25 Street S.E. from 7 p.m. on Thursday April 17 until 1 a.m. on Friday, April 18 to allow for CN Railway repairs. Traffic will be directed to the north side of 50 Avenue S.E. as crews will be working in the existing eastbound lanes.  CN Flagmen will be on site for train traffic protection.

Northbound Centre Street will be reduced to one lane north of Glenmore Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 due to utility work.

Northbound Heritage Drive will be reduced to one lane at 77 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17 due to traffic signal installation. Southbound Heritage drive will be reduced to one lane at 77 Avenue S.E. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Speed in this area will be reduced to 50 km/h at this time.

10 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Macleod Trail and 3 Street S.E. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Monday, April 14 to Friday, April 18 due to utility work. Work will continue on Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 22.

There will be various lane closures due to continued stages of construction along 53 Avenue S.E. between Blackfoot Trail and 2 Street S.E until mid-April due to utility work.

Southwest

2 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 Street and 3 Street S.W. from Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m. until July 3 at 6 p.m.

The left lane and sidewalk are closed on 11 Avenue S.W. between 11 Street S.W. and 12 Street S.W. until Tuesday, September 30 due to building construction.

The right lane on 5 Avenue S.W. will be closed between Centre Street and 1 Street S.W. until Wednesday, April 30. During morning and evening peak hours this lane will be used for pedestrians while work is being done on the sidewalk.
