Bank robberies – man charged

The Calgary Police Service has arrested and charged a man in connection with two bank robberies that occurred in April and June of 2013.
 
On both occasions police believe the suspect targeted the same TD Canada Trust, located at 1410 1 St. S.E. The first offence occurred on Saturday, April 20, and the second offence took place on Saturday, June 15, 2013.
 
In each case he indicated he had a weapon, demanded money and left with an undisclosed quantity of cash.
 
Robert Cecil ARMSTRONG, 52, of Calgary, has been arrested and charged with three counts of robbery in relation to the April offence where he approached three members of staff to demand money.
 
He has also been charged with one count of robbery in relation to the June offence.
 
His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013.
