Attempted Robbery

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance for more information about an attempted robbery that occurred on Friday.

At around 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, a woman was walking eastbound on the north side of 9 Avenue S.W. when a man on a bicycle rode up from behind her and tried to grab her handbag. When she resisted, the man slashed at her hand with a knife.

The woman ran into the street to seek help and a vehicle stopped to assist her. The driver transported the victim to hospital where she was treated.

The man on the bicycle is described as black, between 16 and 18 years old, 5’8” tall, with a skinny build and shaved head. He was possibly wearing a hat and baggy grey clothing.
