Woman charged with attempted murder

The Calgary Police Service has charged a woman with attempted murder.

Just after midnight on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, police were called to a multi-family residence in the 1600 block of 12 Avenue S.W. for reports of loud noises coming from a suite above. Upon arrival, police found a man in serious medical condition. Two women were also located in the residence, uninjured.

The women were taken into custody for questioning, while the injured man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. He remains in hospital.

Investigators believe it was an unprovoked attack, however, a more specific motive is not yet known.

Following a three-week investigation by the CPS Centralized General Investigation Section, Stephanie FAVEL, 32, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, and charged with attempted murder. She will next appear in court on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016.
