Willow Park shooting upgraded to a homicide investigation

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is now investigating the shooting incident that occurred in 10300 block of Bonaventure Drive S.E.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, police were called to an office building due to gunshots being fired. One man was transported to hospital where he later died.

Two schools in the area were locked down as a precautionary measure while officers cleared the office building where the shooting occurred and searched the area for any further threats to public safety. Both schools have now been released and there is no evidence that children at those schools were in danger as a result of the incident.

Homicide detectives are now reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing a number of witnesses as part of their investigation. At this point, it does not appear that the shooting was random.
