Violent sexual assault investigation

The Calgary Police Service Sex Crimes Unit is currently investigating the possibility a violent sexual assault took place in Sunnyside.

The victim was located in a residence when Calgary Police were called to a building fire in the 800 block of 9a Street N.W., on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.

The victim was transported to hospital with severe injuries.

Investigators are currently following up on leads from potential witnesses to the incident. A suspect has been identified, however, no charges have been laid at this time.
