Violent Sexual Assault - Seeking Public Assistance

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating a violent sexual assault in the city's downtown.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., today, Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, police received a call from security guards at a parkade in the 200 block of 6 Avenue S.W. The guards had come across a severely beaten woman who had been sexually assaulted in one of the parkade's stairwells.

A woman in her 40s suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital to be treated.

It's believed the woman met her attacker around 3rd Street and 7 Avenue S.W., and agreed to go with him to meet a friend. After meeting the friend, the group dispersed, with the suspect and victim continuing to the stairwell where the woman was beaten and sexually assaulted.

The first suspect is a dark-skinned man, between 5'6" and 5'8" tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a toque, a brown sweater, black jacket and blue jeans. His jacket had fur around the hood and he was wearing runners.

The second man is a person of interest, and is described as brown-skinned , possibly of Middle Eastern descent, with a slim build. He was wearing a track suit and a red coat.

Video surveillance has captured a man in the vicinity at the time of the offence. Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying him as investigators would like to speak to him. This photo is available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
