Update: Stabbing investigation

The Calgary Police Service has determined that a stabbing which occurred on Sunday was not the result of an online transaction involving the sale of a cellphone.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., on Sunday, March 23, 2014, a man in his 20s was transported to hospital by a woman, believed to be his girlfriend.

He was suffering from a stab wound, and was immediately treated by medical personnel.

The original information provided to the investigators was that the victim had arranged to sell a cellphone through an online classified ad website, and was meeting with the prospective buyer. Through various investigative methods, and the co-operation of Kijiji, officers were able to rule this out.

Investigators now believe this was a targeted attack, and that the victim knew the suspects.

They continue to investigate and are working to determine the specific motive.

Investigators still believe the incident took place in a parking lot at 250 Shawville Blvd. S.E. The victim is said to have entered the suspect’s vehicle when the stabbing occurred. It is believed there were three men in the vehicle. The vehicle then fled the area, leaving the victim in the parking lot.

Investigators continue to follow-up leads identify possible suspects.
