Update: Stabbing Incident

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a serious stabbing incident, but no longer believe the incident was a random attack.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., emergency crews were called to the 900 block of 36 Street N.E., after reports a man was in serious medical distress. The 25-year-old victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, but has since been stabilized.

After reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements, investigators now believe the men – three suspects and the victim – became involved in an argument and then began physically fighting. At some point, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The suspects then fled the scene.

The suspects are described as black males, between 18 and 25 years old. Two are approximately 6’ tall and the other 5’8” tall. All were wearing black-and-red clothing and baseball hats.

Police are releasing pictures of three men believed to have information about the incident. These pictures are available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.
