UPDATE: Homicide Victim Identified

The victim of a homicide that occurred in the city’s southwest earlier this week has been identified.

Just after 1 a.m., Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, police were called to an address in the 1500 block of 28 Avenue S.W. for reports of an unwanted guest. A man was found suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to hospital where he was declared deceased upon arrival.

Investigators believe that the victim and the accused were known to each other for a short time. The victim had allegedly been invited to stay with the accused for a number of days, however, on the night of the incident an altercation occurred that lead to the death of the victim. Though the specific motive for the altercation is not yet known.

Bart Dwight MILLER, 49, has been charged with manslaughter. He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015.

The victim has been identified as Robert Joseph MARX, 52. Cause of death will not be released at this time.

This is Calgary’s fourth homicide of 2015.
