Update – Homicide Investigation

The search has now concluded in relation to the investigation into the death of Maqsood AHMED.

During the search, items were recovered that are believed to be connected to the investigation.

As the investigation is ongoing, no further information or detail will be released in relation to the items.

The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the media and public for their assistance with this investigation.

 

Search Conducted in Ahmed Homicide

Based upon information obtained through the investigation and assistance from the public, the Calgary Police Service will be searching an area in the southeast related to the robbery and homicide of Maqsood AHMED.

The area being searched today at 9:30 a.m., is adjacent to the railway tracks located by Penbrooke Road and Penbrooke Close S.E. This location is west of 68 Street S.E., north of 17 Avenue.

Officers are looking for items that were stolen during the robbery.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, AHMED and a female co-worker were closing up a business in the 4700 block of Westwinds Drive N.E. AHMED was leaving on foot with cash and receipts when he was approached and attacked by two men. He was robbed of his cash and stabbed.

AHMED, 55, was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The woman, an employee of the company was uninjured.
