Two men charged in stolen property investigation

Two men have been charged in relation to a District 1 investigation into numerous vehicle, property break and enters, and thefts.

Following an investigation by the District 1 Operations Team and the District 1 Break and Enter Detail, approximately $85,000 worth of stolen property has been recovered. The property includes numerous vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, and industrial kitchen appliances.

It is believed the property was stolen from numerous locations in, and around, Calgary. Photos of some of the recovered property can be found on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Two search warrants were executed during the investigation. The first occurred on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at a residence in the 0 to 100 block of Coral Springs Close N.E. The second search warrant was executed on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at a residence in the 0 to 100 block of San Fernando Crescent N.E.

As a result of the search warrants, two men have been charged with more than 30 criminal code charges.

Troy WAREHAM, 41, of Calgary, was arrested on warrants for three counts of conspire to commit an indictable offence, two counts of attempted robbery, one count of attempted kidnapping, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, one count of fail to attend court, one count of driving a motor vehicle with no insurance and one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was also charged in relation to the District 1 investigation with one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000, along with 29 breaches of a recognizance.

WAREHAM will next appear in court on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.

Colin DOWNEY, 25, of Calgary, is charged with one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000. He will next appear in court on Friday, July 24, 2015.

The investigation continues and numerous additional charges are expected to be laid.
